    Just make sure that everything is stable. You don't want anything that likes to dig upsetting your rock work and have an avalanche in your aquarium.

    Why would you want to? Phosphates are in almost everything that you put in the aquarium, like fish food. The general idea is to reduce phosphates with regular water changes. If you are looking to grow micro algaes away from a display tank you might experiment with it.

    Ground water is always low in dissolved oxygen and high in minerals. The DO isn't a problem, but minerals can be. I used well water with good results for awhile in Northern CA. Now I'm using RO/DI. I'm more comfortable with knowing what I'm putting into my tank.

    Metal Halide Questions

    The MH lights at HomeDepot are 5k, they might be good for plants but, they are not prefered for coral. Most common bulb used by most reef aquarist is the 10k. Some people use the 20k's but it's too blue for my taste.
