    psuedo fish

Nah, mandarins only fight with other mandarins. (well, depending on the size of the tank, some will fight with all dragonets, however, in a 100gal I've got a scooter and a mandarin) Nothing really messes with the dragonets. (sometimes the LMB will, but not with vigor.) Fights usually occur over...

    Lighting Question

I think with that lighting on a 180, you'd be looking at some mushrooms, polyps and possibly some softies.

    psuedo fish

Me too :D They're a lot tougher too..a bit more expensive, but worth it in the long run because you'll have a lower mortality rate. The powder browns and blue are prone to...death. And it's not as mean as the powder blues. Jillian: since you're tight on money, wait a while on the tang. The...

    psuedo fish

Sounds fine :) A 75gal is fine for most tangs, however you might consider substituting a white cheek (Acanthurus nigricans) tang for the powder brown. (I mentioned this before, but the thread was deleted soon after a fight insued, so I don't know if you read it or not lol ) They're a lot tougher...

    New Tank set up

They do have a SWF for Dummies book :D Well, maybe your library doesn't, but there is one out there.

    psuedo fish

It depends on the size of the tank...if the tank is too small, the dottyback will tear your clowns apart. It probably won't kill them, because clowns are tanks, but it will stress them out and make them susceptible to things that *will* kill them. Of course, if the tank is too small your tang...

    psuedo fish

They're very very mean. They don't pick on corals, but they will pick on any fish similar in size, shape or eating habits. Or one that just happens to swim by when it's feeling pissy. Typical "short man" complex. And they eat shrimp. They're very pretty, just make sure and add them last so...

    Is my CBS happy?

Unless you add iodine regularly, it's perfectly normal :D Especially if you suspect it eats a lot. When they're stressed, they typically won't molt (with the exception of their first molt when they're added to a new tank. Every shrimp I've ever had molted within two days of arrival into my...

    Starfish?

I think it would probably start to decay. I mean, don't take it to the bank or anything, since I've never tried it, but I'm thinking in terms of jerky. If you set it in water, even though it's been dehydrated and dried out for a long time, it still soaks up the water. I'm not sure if it would...

why test in an empty tank, reef way more expensive?

Well, you test the water to ensure that you can add fish/inverts soon :D Corals aren't hard exactly, expensive, yes because lighting costs out the yang...but once you have proper lighting and established water, most are relatively easy to keep. With some exceptions such as carnation corals :mad...

    Does a CBS east parasites??

Mine picks parasites from my lionfish, but not all of them do, it just depends on the shrimp :D

    My Volitans

Thank you...outwardly, he's fine. I've tried taunting him with ghost shrimp, and he looks at them, but...as dumb as this sounds, he looks as if he's pained and then swooshes away. I'll try him again tomorrow. He's still pretty active for being stuck on the bottom...he was propping himself up on...

Dead Hermit Crab With No Shell

If he's molted, he's not dead at all :D Crabs will molt when they grow, the molting looks exactly like them, but clearish. His shell is still on him, probably hiding under a rock while his new shell is hardening. (Because he's soft and squishy for a while after they grow out of the old shell...

Dead Hermit Crab With No Shell

    Mushroom Question

Mushrooms do that :D It's a good thing. They start dropping off and will (unless they're floating around) attach somewhere. You can pick up the ones that dropped off and set them where you want them. I love mushrooms.

    My Volitans

I know that there are a lot of lionfish addicts here, and I'm wondering/hoping that someone can help me out here. I'm a bit worried about my Volitans. It has always been the picture of health, very showy, eating well, etc. About three days ago, he took in a big mouthfull of sand while eating...
