    Potty Trained Tangs?

We have a lawnmower blenny that makes a show of it. He lives under the rock with just his head sticking out most of the time, but once a day in the evening he swims right smack dab in the middle of the tank, does his business, then goes back under the rock. It makes great dinner conversation. :)

    Cleaner Shrimp "babies"

I'd appreciate it if you could find it. I have everything I need to set up a little separate tank for them...the problem is I have no idea how/what to feed them.

    Cleaner Shrimp "babies"

Wow, this was wild. I was doing the water change in our reef tank, during which I shut down the filters and powerheads. I noticed one of our cleaner shrimp had eggs underneath the day before, but hadn't seen her today. Just as I'm about to add the water, I see a cloud of tiny particles come out...

    Filters, yes, no?

Fshhub...you're right, except : a lot of people make some very common mistakes: adding fish too quickly, overfeeding, and not cleaning the substrate completely. Therefore, the use of a simple mechanical filter can help a LOT. In our systems we use a mechanical filter (just a foam pad) to help...

    is this possible????

This pops up about once a month, so here it is again :) ANEMONES EAT FISH. Watch it carefully after ingesting the puffer, most puffer flesh is poisonous. Good luck!

Tiny airbubbles after filter change - Is this normal?

Normal. Do a search on CARBON..then decide if you want to still use it in your SW tank. Most people don't, but reserve it for use once a week, or to clean out a medicine or treatment. Check it out.

    tang, please eat!

Believe it or not most yellow tangs will eat spirulina flake, even if they're not taking anything else. You can invest in a small jar to see. If you soak it in a little garlic juice, you can't miss.

choosing the best filter for $

In my opinion you can't do it for under 200....if you want ease of maintenance, and full triple filtration, go with an ecosystem 60 and an aquaclear 500 (just foam). Nuttin else needed!

    new fish

We have a flame in our reef - been there a month, so far he hasn't touched anything it shouldn't. The biggest problem with flames is to make sure they eat...as long as the fish is eating well, you should have no problems. The more established the tank, the better.

    Tang insanity??

Check for electricity in the tank from a bad powerhead or heater. Tangs are real sensitive to stray electrical currents in the water.

    Ocellaris and Flowerpot

Funny..we had the opposite happen! We have a flowerpot that is doing great, he's wide open and there are no dead spots. One day, about 2 months ago, our percula decided to live in it. Once he did, the coral went downhill fast. He barely ever opened, and started showing signs of dying. I ripped...

    BTA and Percula Clown

Perculas sometimes will ignore a host for months...then one day decide they can't live without it. Give it time.

    Good size sick Tank?

Wait a sec, wait a sec. One thing we discovered after setting up a hospital tank, was that it was great to have a smaller one. The reason is, if you're dosing medicine, you need less medicine to make a full dose (read:cheaper). Also, if you're doing hyposalinity, or other water change type...

    seahorse tank setup

Jon -- after years of digital photography, and website/photo editing, I can easily say get paint shop pro from http://www.jasc.com. We've used Photoshop, Corel Photopaint, and many others, Paint Shop Pro has the best combination of ease of use, power, and tools. Give it a shot.

    Reef tank: 6 foot

An important thing to think about with a reef tank....shorter is good -- for two main reasons. And again, this is my opinion. You can get better light to everyone for less money, since the light has less distance to travel. You can manually place things and adjust things easier, because you can...

WHAT should I feed my clown & Picasso trigger?

Take frozen silversides, thaw them in tank water, then chop them up and feed them to the triggers on the end of a stick. They'll rip 'em right off. There is also a pellet food that is NOT crap, called Thera-A from New Life. Awesome stuff, and every one of our fish love it. They're relatively...

What Plan do you have for a power outage?

We have UPS's on our big tanks that will run the filters and one powerhead for about an hour. After that, we're in trouble!
