    HLLE Purple Tang update

Tangs will get HLLE, as will other fish, as a result of poor water quality, rough handling...stress. We were given this tang by a LFS when we mentioned that we could cure the HLLE in our tank. The manager of the store figured the fish was a goner, so he gave him to us (we're pretty steady...

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

A little off topic -- but a good tip for this kind of thing. I take my camera into the next room (which is lit) and focus on something that is about the same distance as the object in the tank I want to photograph. Lock in the autofocus...and bring the camera back in and shoot the tank with the...

    anyone know what this is

They are fragile, require pristine water conditions, and a HUGE tank. I wouldn't consider keeping a lookdown in less then a 200 gallon, and then I'd be nervous. Great eaters, fast swimmers, just need a LOT of room.

    New cleaner wrasse disapeared

Common cleaner wrasses will take almost any marine meat...as long as the particles are REALLY REALLY small. You can take a regular grocery shrimp, shred it, and he'll take it. They love all kinds of food, but again, SMALL. (pinhead size particles).

    Puffers...

You could consider a Fiji blue spotted puffer. They are very small as juveniles, and grow VERY slowly. Very hardy, and eat anything.

    Finding Nemo,New Movie

You're not kidding! In a Petland Discounts the other day, a lady bought a tomato clown for her whining daughter, and because I'm a big mouth, I asked if they had a saltwater tank. They said, "Um, no, why?" So............you know the rest. Know what she did? Bought a bag of Instant Ocean and...

    What do cleaner wrasses eat?

Most of them will adapt and eat very small particles of almost any prepared food. One VERY important thing with this species is to have a rock with holes in it for them to sleep. Many of them will die from stress if they dont' have a 'safehouse' to sleep in. As soon as the lights go out they...

    Has any one ever?

I have purchased from here a few times, all with excellent results. The one thing you have to be careful of -- the temptation to buy too many fish (since you're paying one shipping price). Resist! Resist I say!

    Most Beautiful fish.....

Beautiful fish. BUT...I gotta say ours is in a tank with a healthy flame angel, and everyone that comes to see the tank stares at the flame much more then the mandarin. I'm kinda torn...

    Filters, yes, no?

Right...don't worry about rinsing the foam pad in a special way, its only there for particle (mechanical) filtration, so you dont' care what else is on it. We wash it thoroughly in fresh hard running tap water, then replace it once its clean.

Saltwater Plants in a reef setup?

We have a lot of caulerpa that grows in the corner of our reef tank, wrapped around some Roman columns (porcelain decoration). It grows like a weed, well, it is a weed, anyway, great look, and helps keep other algae at bay. Our scopus tang hits it every once in a while, but he can't keep up with...
