    My Pair!

very cool. I almost bought one of those gobies. That are very nice looking fish. It may take a little time for it to pair with the shrimp, but when it does, its very cool to watch.

    COral lighting

check out hello lights as well. The problem with a single light is that you tank likely has a brace in the middle and so if you only get the single MH bulb, the brace will create a shadow. So generally, you need 2x150w or 2x250w to avoid the shadow.

Which SPS is right for me?

With tank that small, just make sure you can keep your water parameters stable on a daily and nightly basis. It is difficult to do and requires detailed care. But you will be rewarded with a small beautiful creation when it works. Temperature is an issue with a tank that small because you may...

    Deep water ID:

I think its the same that I have ~ A. Caroliniana. Mine is a metallic yellow/green. Its not the fastest grower but not super slow either. PE only at night, and the polyps are very thin and white. I had some tips that were white I think from shipping to my LFS and they grew back over pretty...

    Best of these two dosers

b-ionic is a great product if you dont need the large quantities of the bulk stuff. I also use a 2-part but its from a local company called Natureef. I used to use b-ionic, but this stuff is cheaper and as good or better than b-ionic. You cant go wrong with any of them.

    feeding monti caps

they benefit from nutrients in the water but really all a monti needs is clean water, medium to strong light and fish poo. My SPS probably take up some of the finely chopped pieces in my homemade fish food, but I dont feed any SPS anything specifically. Amino acids are helpful with SPS but for a...

    Enough Light

I have a 36" 2x150w Sunpod over my 65g which is 24" deep. its a great fixture. I recently switched from 10k Aqualine AB bulbs to 14k Phoenix. Slightly less growth but better color. But like Mr X said, I can keep everything, just keep all the SPS in the top half of my tank. LPS is all in the...

What to put in new refugium

I have about 20lbs of LS and about 10 lbs of rubble rock. I also have a few hermits and bunch of cerith snails. Plus a huge clump of cheato. Ive also been throwing in xenia into my fuge because it supposedly removes nutrients. Was better to put in there then the toilet lol

VERY high Ca level, low alk

Ive had high calc before as well (well not 820) but it is the low alk that is the real problem. Im surprised that you havent lost any of the corals yet, maybe the ones you have arent that sensitive. But if you dose alk too quickly, youll just precipitate out the calcium which could clog pumps...

    What is it?

Max, what is a lonely MJ1200 going to do in a 215g? In your smaller foam tank it would be fine, but in a 215, it needs a sureflow 1600 kit or something. Still a sweet project and looks great!

Question about weekend lighting on a Nano....

Indirect light through a window will not be enough for any coral IMO. Just buy a timer with multiple plugs (2-stage maybe?) and it will turn the moonlights on when the main lights turn off. I have 3 sets of lights on one timer power strip: halides, actinics, and moonlights. Costs somewhere...

unless Im mistaken, its more of a deepwater coral and they seem to typically just have less PE during the day. I have a yellow deepwater that I believe is A. caroliniana and it only has PE at night.

    Keeping Bright colors.

Yeah Zeovit and Prodibio are two products, or systems I should call them, that increase the amount of bacteria in the tank which breakdown more of the nutrients. They are based on the ultra low nutrient system theory. Then you balance the low nutrients by adding amino acids, trace elements and...
