make sure your calcium levels are good and it will keep growing. so much so you will have to scrape it off. But sweet looking tank!

STN? Bleaching? What is it, what do I do?

your parameters appear to be OK, dkH is alk. calc could be a little higher, but 340 is not going to cause STN or RTN. An acro crab is usually very small, less than 1 cm (the bad one I had was that small) and usually fuzzy. They eat the polyps. I have 2 beneficial acro crabs and they usually...

    feeding SPS.

I cant speak to the zooplankton or baby brine, but sps do great just on fish poo and light. many people use amino acids as well, by dosing them at night. supposed to get better polyp extension and colors.

    New Phoenix 14k 150w Bulbs

spanko has claimed that the radium has higher par... but conveniently lost the link to the website. Ive seen his pics of the radium vs. phoenix and they both look great. also other people's experiences are very positive with the radium. Stanalee, i LOVED the AB bulbs. the par was amazing on...

    New Phoenix 14k 150w Bulbs

As promised (to spanko at least) pics of the tank fresh with the new pair of 150w Phoenix 14k bulbs. This is after one hour of run time. I will try to document the burn in so that I can see the color change to the actual color. Its VERY blue right now, and almost a little purple looking in...

    A big problem

sounds like it is getting too much flow. algae can grow on a coral when it receives too much flow. try redirecting the powerhead so that it isnt pointing directly at the coral. It should then recover and the algae will go away.

STN? Bleaching? What is it, what do I do?

Yeah you need to post water parameters. The flow sounds like it should be fine, unless it is sitting in a dead spot. If its STN it can recover. RTN would be gone already. I lost a blue tort to RTN in about 18 hours. Also, have you inspected it for a bad acro crab? Ive seen colonies damaged...

What does everyone do for mechanical filtration?

my cheato acts as mechanical filtration and when I remove portions of the cheato, I remove whatever is caught in it.

Just got new sps coral..with pics..

+1 on light acclimate. The brown will turn white and then you will only be left with a skeleton. once you get it used to the light and continue to provide it with stable parameters, it could completely change color. Several of my first sps were brown outs I got cheap and theyre now blue or...
