    2000+g plz help!!!

This plan sounds very well thought out! I especially like the catwalk system and moveable lighting rigs ala Steve Weast's tank. The "hospital is also a great idea". I would make sure that there is enough room for a workbench, refrigerator/freezer, sink, toilet (for all the skimmate), and a...

    Project 300 is underway!!!

It's been awhile since I updated this thread, so I thought I'd let you all know what's going on with the tank. I've experienced some growing pains since my last posting and am in recovery mode right now. The Multicolor Angel I added back in June developed a taste for SPS after being in the tank...

to wave box....or not to wave Box?

I use one on my 300g and absolutely love it. The Wavebox is an easy solution for moving every bit of water in the tank, albeit the rockwork prevents some areas from flowing as well as the water in the upper part of the water column. Other means of flow are still needed though. When detritus...

Best looking uniform in professional sports

I really like the 49ers current home uniforms. The color combo expresses class and the numbers and other details don't seem gaudy like some of the new uniforms popping up in the professional ranks.

Can you have pets in college?

The college I went to had a limit on what types of pets could be kept. The requirement was that the pet had to be able to survive underwater for at least 24-hours. But at least they didn't limit the size of the tank. I remember a guy a few floors up from me who had a 180g (if I'm remember...

    220,000 Gallon Aquarium...

Thanks for sharing; those are some incredible tanks! I'm a tang fan as well, and enjoyed the pics of that tank especially. That RS Sailfin is impressive! I have a 10 year-old RS Sailfin in my tank that I've always thought was "filled out", but the one in the pic is just huge! I think you...

    Star Polyps

Different environmental conditions in different areas of the tank could cause a difference as well. I have two rapidly growing colonies of GSP in my tank that both started from the same frag. One is in a high light, high flow area and has full, yet short polyp extention. The other colony is...

    New type of tank!

I've seen a few tanks like the one you're referring to. They're nice, but also expensive for what they are. If you don't mind piecing a system together with a tank, sump, skimmer, you would be doing yourself a favor. By doing some shopping around, you should be able to piece together a nice...

    Best Chiller?

I also use a JBJ Arctica chiller. I have the 1/3HP model on my 300g. The manufacturer only recommends it up to 250g or so, but it keeps my tank right at 80.5 degrees during the peak of summer and with 3x400W MH and with four pumps (return, closed loop, chiller, skimmer) totalling about 800W...

So... I got my tang today...

The coloration of Naso Tangs changes when they're sleeping or stressed (kind of like a Foxface), and part of the change is the appearance of white spots. This is normal, especially with a new addition.

    Acrylic51...finally a new skimmer

I missed the tapered neck in the photo. It looks like George has a well-refined skimmer design now. Can't wait to see some pics of that skimmer in action!

    Hole Drilled in LR?!?!

Mantis shrimp have the capability to do that. Do you ever hear any clicking noises coming from your tank? (That's usually the easiest way to determine if one has hitchhiked into your tank).

    Acrylic51...finally a new skimmer

Nice skimmer golfish! I like how George built the removable flange at the bottom of the skimmer. Is that something new that he does or did you request that?

    How big a difference???

That upgrade likely wouldn't necessitate a chiller. Your water might heat up an extra degree or two, but a well-placed fan or two should easily negate the difference.
