hermit crabs , especially the larger ones are still crabs. and 99% of crabs are opportunists and are by no means reef safe. If you want a large hermit, go with the electric blue legs and possibly there close relative the electric orange leg (halloween hermit) as they seem to be quite docile...

wet /dry is not necessary if you have a lot of LR. but curious what size tank do you have and what do you consider a lot? how many #s ?

the brown algae is diatoms, its a natural phase of a new tank that occurs usually right after a cycle. only a few things eat it, but dont worry it is harmless and goes away on its own in a few days.

actually that last one is hard to tell. it is the perfect color for cyano - is it soft and feathery and blows off with a turkey baster? if so then that is cyano. corralline is just coloration and some slight encrusting on rocks.
