but mom... I NEED a frag tank!

ok, I started my fragging carier the other day but I was using my display tank. I'm starting with mushrooms and placing them in a low current corner of my 75 gal. They still move around a little but it adds a lot of stress. So comes the frag tank. I have a 20 gal long that will be perfect. My...

    Lunar Wrasses

Well I think I made a 'wrassh' decision. Damn, that was lame! I picked up two lunar wrasses the other day and boy did they liven up my tank. Crazy fish. They eat so much and pick at everything including my hermits and snails. Will they kill off my janitors? They beat up on all of them. Will...

    White coralline?

Thanks for the question. I had the same. I just thought it was new coraline. Anyone have a reason for this? I have a 75 with good parameters. Calcium is around 440. I put a rock in and the tips started to turn bright white or die so I've just learned. The coraline is not spreading. I remember...

    zero edge tanks

Nevermind. The overflow on both sides. They look rediculous but only if youre loaded. So expensive.

    zero edge tanks

Don't they overflow uniquely? The water level stays right at the top does it not?

    Zoas - removed from rock

What about the ones that are ripped in half? Will this hurt the tank at all? If they can be poisonous for us what will it do to the water?

    Zoas - removed from rock

I bought a rock last night with some Zoas and a LPS on it. The zoas looked like they were slightly overtaking the LPS so I plucked some of them off with some sharp (a little too sharp) tweezers. Some came off easy but some ripped. Can I place all of these (the half zoas) back in my tank? Will...

    Mushroom ID

if you're worried about it let it split by itself. Then you won't be cutting your only one. I think they are pretty resilient. I've never fragged a ricordia but I have done a mushroom. I think they are slightly less hardy but fragged the same way. RZ?

    Well I done did it

I have never fragged anything before and since I started dealing with corals I've been itching to do something. So last night my roommate and I were looking at the tank and I told him I was going to chop up my single mushroom. I keep saying it day after day and he keeps asking me questions it...

    No more water changes?

You could clean out the water really well but you will starve the water of all trace elements eventually. That is one great thing that water changes bring back to the tank. Now, if you were adding all minerals back in to the water then I don't see how it couldn't work. I like water changes...

    Linkia Star Deteriorating!

How big is the tank and how much rock work do you have. A linka needs a 150 with plenty of rockwork to survive. This same discussion is going on in "My 46 Gal cleanup crew" thread posted today. If you have a big tank with the necessary rockwork then I have no answers for you. I don't know them...

    pink cucumber in reefs

I was looking at the filter feeders but I have a young tank. I'd rather pick up a new coral I think anyway. Hence why I only have two fish. My roomate is constantly complaining, "When are you going to put some fish in there?"
