thats what I use, but without the filter cartridges and biowheels. It is goos water circulation and you can pop in filter media as necessary, I also keep the heater in the back. if you have a FO tank, you might need a bit more.

southdown sand is aragonite sand. aragonite sand will slowly dissolve over time restoring trace elements, buffering PH and calcium, etc "regular" sand is nothing more than tiny pieces of glass and is not recommended for a reef tank.
