    Can eels eat.....

I agree. Chainlink eel is in the Echidna genus, whose members are mainly crustacean eaters (especially crabs) in the wild. They do not even bother echinoderms like starfish both in the wild and captivity. Brittle starfish would make a nice addition to your scavenger crew. :)

    Ich????

The majority of porcupine puffers offered at LFS have ick/whitespot (which are all external parasites). There is no need to worry. Just treat your puffer with chelated copper sulfate (i.e. CopperSafe by Mardel), and those white spots will be gone in no time!

    trigger losing color

The same thing happened to mine when I treated my tank with copper sulfate. I didn't overdose, but for some reason he started losing his color. Then, next day he died. I think juvenile clown triggers are not very hardy compared to adults. Hopefully it's nothing serious. Did you medicate your...

    Queen trigger question

I think the aggressiveness of Queen has been highly exaggerated. It's true that it's one of the most aggressive triggers of all, but that doesn't mean that it is a ruthless non-stop killing machine. I've seen people successfully keeping a juvenile Queen with aggressive/semi-aggressive fishes...

    Fish Eating Machine

You better watch out! Your Tesslata might crawl out of tank one night, and consume you while you're sleeping.:D Vicious-looking eel with the matching temper!! But, gorgeous....indeed

Can Octopus be Kept in Reef Tanks?

Are you talking about a ray? then no ray for a reef-tank, either!

    Most expensive death?

SpicyBalls: It's not actually 800, but the total volumes combined. My biggest tank is 500 (which is almost complete)......I have 180 and a bunch of other smaller tanks. I just didn't want the hassle of enumerating all of their volumes. I still don't know exactly how many gallons of water I have...

    Most expensive death?

$199 for Starry puffer that I bought for my "Puffer Project". It died from some kind of internal bacterial infection. It was doing fine for about a week, and then suddenly started to swell up like a balloon. Sad.... But, fortunately my Map puffer, which is the most expensive fish I've ever...

    EMERGENCY!goby under attack

That makes sense because it's when your puffer's about to outgrow your goby. I think striped puffer is an exception among Arothron sp. in a sense that it is a nipper/picker. Mine did the same thing to my valentini even when he was merely 1.5" long. But, it never bothered my other Arothron...

    EMERGENCY!goby under attack

I guess you have to return either one of them to LFS. Generally a goby and Arothron combo does not work well except when the puffer is very young.

    Roaming Room

IMO, pipefishes should be kept in a small species tank. They usually require live food, and they are very shy feeders, as well. Just think of them as seahorses (They have pretty much the same requirements.). Wait! You're not referring to trumpetfish by any chance, are you? Hippo is usually not...

    ???Stocking Suggestions???

Your list looks fine. The only concern is that SFE might accidentally latch on valentini when he gets bigger. I personally wouldn't keep a toby with a full-sized moray. You might be able to keep Arothron sp. (the ones that reach no more than 12" like dog-face, striped, immaculate...etc). But...

    Multi-puff

Valentini is definitely one of the most peaceful tobies. Honeycomb is usually more aggressive than valentini, but not as bad as jactator (Hawaiian Spotted). Interestingly tobies with spot markings tend to be more aggressive. I can't really tell you for sure which species will live together...

    Multi-puff

You can try, but it's kind of risky though. Unlike their Arothron counterparts, they resent the presence of other fellow tobies. Considering the fact that they're well known nippers, they can do some serious damage to one another. But, this also depends upon what species you're talking about...

    Pilot Fish

They are best kept in a school, but this is out of the question since it will require an extremely huge aquarium. I'm not sure if you're willing to do that. They would be miserable in a 300g tank. You should look at >1000 gallon for a full-sized adult. Also they lose their attractive yellow...

    Species Tank

Yes. I think you could have even more puffers. That's exactly what I've been trying to do. I have star-and-striped, dog-face, immaculate, striped, map, porky, hovercraft box, cubicus, cowfish, and a bunch of tobies. They're in seperate tanks for now, but they'll all (except tobies) go into 500...

    cyadine caught fish

Do you mean gas chromatography by GC?? Just curious.....reminding me of my organic chem lab classes....:D Good time.....Anyway, I have a quick question. How do you isolate cyanide metabolites from liver tissues? Is there a special way to just extract them and run GC? Curious....

    How To Puff A Puffer!

Hmmm. Why would you be curious if you do not intend to make them puff up? I think this is the most inhumane way of stressing you puffers. As an owner of more than 10 puffers, I 've never seen any of my puffers doing it. However, they occasionally do puff up in a mild manner, which should be no...
