    will i lose my cycle?

Why are we even encouraging cycling with living animals anyways, clownfish4? Most people on this board seriously discourage it and consider it the worst possible way of attempting to cycle. I would take the shrimp out and return them to the LFS...they may even hold them for you. I would then...

    30 gal Skimmer Recommendation?

I'm looking to buy a hang-on skimmer for my new 30 gallon. I don't have the funds right now to invest in something too expensive....but in the below $200 range works. Currently I have a Hagen AquaClear Hang-on Filter and about 30-35lbs live rock. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    lfs in n. texas?

Isn't Northeast Mall in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area near the junction of 183,121, and 820? That whole area is pretty confusing. When I go, I usually take I-30, to 820N. It will be a few miles up on the right...there is a sign that says Northeast Mall...I think you exit Pipeline, but I'm not...

how many wats per gallonfor a reef tank?

There is some truth to the watts per gallon rule, but it depends on other factors as well. How much lighting you need primarily depends on what type of corals you are planning to keep as each coral species has differing lighting requirements. It also depends on the type of lighting...i.e., PC...

    lfs in n. texas?

Hmm...never really delved into SA...they obviously have some pretty good places? I go to Aqua-tek every once in awhile because it's convenient (though overpriced, don't you think!). Austin Aquariums is pretty good too...I haven't been in awhile, but they usually have pretty good frags. River...

    You Know You're Addicted When...

That's a great story razelynn! There is a total hottie at my LFS who is always giving me the eye...maybe I should ask him out for a discount on that $150 blue spot jawfish that I have my eye on....haha.

    clean up crew

I would hold off on buying too large of a clean up crew at the moment. Unless their is a lot of detritus to "clean up," which there probably won't be considering there aren't any other waste producing inhabitants, some may starve to death. I would buy a minimal number to accomodate your needs...

Is this rock safe? And ID on these, anyone?

I'm agreeing with the above post...I've had limestone in my tank before as base rock and it was great and seeded nicely. I had no problems whatsoever...

Hey viet-tin...I'm in Austin too. What lfs's do you frequent? There are pros and cons for all, I think. Maybe we should open our own...haha.

How Msny Pounds Of Live Rock Would Be used For A 90 Gallon

Well, yes, the rock very well may be cured while at the store. The rock, however, isn't shipped in water, usually wet newspaper, and some die-off will occur during the shipping process. Obviously, the longer it takes to be shipped, the more die-off will occur. So, it's better to let it...

How Msny Pounds Of Live Rock Would Be used For A 90 Gallon

Well, I would say 1lb per gallon is the minimum amount I like to go with. But if you're looking to cover the entire back wall, you're definitely going to need more than that....I'm not really sure how much though...I guess it depends if any of rock will be in front also. It also depends on what...

    Question about my Feather Duster

I agree with the above post...my dusters won't show their crown if water flow is too high. But he is probably just getting comfortable with his surroundings. All of my feather dusters open during the day, so maybe he'll warm up over time.

A ruler and a drill i can handle...the saw kinda scares. If I do decide to retrofit...what is the best lighting combination....how much would the 3 75W VHOs that wax suggested be around? And would I just be adding this to a pre-made canopy?

Upgrading to 30 gal from 5 gal...help please!

Well, intially, I was going to buy cured rock from an LFS, but they were charging out the nose. So, I ended up ordering online and will, as you said, have to wait the cycle out as usual. Slow and steady wins the race as they say...oh well... :)

    Lighting for 30 gal high....

My problem is I'm not the handy type and am somewhat reluctant to try and do anything myself...haha. I'm afraid if I do, it won't look that great and I'll end up electrocuting myself or something. Is is really that difficult to do? I'm also looking for something which is somewhat cost...

    Lighting for 30 gal high....

I'm setting up a new 30 gal tank (24"x24"x12"). I really want a lighting system that has moonlights incorporated. I found a system that has 1-65w Dual Daylight (10,000K & 6,700K) & 1-65w Dual Actinic (460nm & 420nm) and 2 moonlights in the same ballast. I will only be keeping mushrooms, soft...

Upgrading to 30 gal from 5 gal...help please!

Hey guys...well, I've finally decided to upgrade from my 5 gal nano to a 30 gal high. Currently I have about 5-8lbs live rock, a few inverts, and some out of control Xenia...haha. Question is...what is the best way to make the move. I was planning on doing a water change and putting some of...
