    I hate Aiptasia.

    500 is a little overwhelming for just 2 peppermint shrimp. They can control the problem if the problem is not completely out of hand like yours. You need to manualy get rid of them.

    It seems like we all have to prperly "Train" a back up person to take care of our tanks when we are absent. I myself am fortunate that my best friend and me got into this hobby at the same time about 5 years ago. So when each other is away we take care of each others tank. My wife is an idiot...

    In my experience, when the phosphates are low like yours the lighting is usually the problem. If you have had the same bulbs for a year, the spectrum on them may have seen better times. Or they might have been a poor spectrum in the first place. Let us know what kind of lighting you have!!!!

    Aiptasia!! Or at least I think. Not really good. They can get out of hand. A peppermint shrimp will usually make quick work of them.
