    Colors

I've wondered this my whole life: If the only real difference between Gold and Silver, why does Silver reflect white light and Gold reflect yellow? If someone could answer this for me, you would end years of sleepless nights.

    Insurance just for your aquarium?

I'm an insurance agent licensed in 47 states, and I can tell you that all policies and companies are different. You need to talk to your agent. The company I work for would probably cover the water damage done to the house, but would not cover the tank if it sprang a leak. As far as I know...

    3 Dead Cleaner Clams

If you're buying the clams that are frozen and sealed, they're already dead. They almost never survive the freezing process, and if they do, then the sealed bad kills them for sure. You want the ones from the fresh seafood counter. Make sure you ask for ones that are tightly closed, as the...

    WTB High-End, 48" T5 Fixture

I am looking to buy any of the high-end t5 fixtures (tek, constellation, solarflare, etc). I am only interested in 48" fixtures. With or w/o bulbs, it doesn't matter. If your fixture includes bulbs, make sure to mention that in your offer. I will pay shipping. Please PM me your offers. Thanks.

An excerpt from Coral Coverage: Fiji Reef Analysis by Adam Blundell

Maybe the author goes into this in detail, but how am I supposed to create a "cryptic dark zone"

    Saddlepuffer

It could be stress becuase it's not used to the new tank it's in. Pretty much the same behavior as hiding in a cave. Is it swimming in place or is it being completely still, like a lion sometimes will?

    Moving tank this weekend

I agree with what's been said so far, and I second that more time will be required. I figure half a day anytime I have to completely pack up and move a tank.

    Stock limits

I think you could add a cardinal for sure. I don't have any experience with butterflies, but they do eat certain things like feather dusters. Cardinals are not a heavy bioload, so you'd be ok with that.

    What is going on?

Yeah man, that's phytoplankton. What are your nutrient levels? To get a bloom like that, you have to have SOME kind of nutrient that's fueling it. After 2 90% water changes I can't imagine what it would be. But the key to growing phyto is light. It can't live w/o light. I would kill the...

    No fish for me :(

Dwarf lions are cool, but don't really do much. They pretty much sit around all day, waiting for your other fish to swim by so they can ambush and eat them Cherub angel and a jaw fish would be my picks.

    Pickle jar tank

Have you replaced the bulb in that light fixture? Almost all of those outdoor fixtures are not MH, they're mercury vapor. WAAAY different, but they still look blue. Do NOT place a MH bulb in it until you are sure that it is designed to handle MH. It should have a part# somewhere on it. You...

    trigger digging out a bed?

Yup. Make sure your rock rests on the bottom glass, not the sand. Their digging has been known to cause rockfalls.

    Emperor Angels & Harley Tusks

The reasons that these will not work in a reef system are too many to list, but I can tell you that large angels are very likely to eat coral, harleys are aggressive, and 120gals is too small for a fully grown P. Imperator.
