    WHat is this??

Yeah, it's a Stomatella. I've got about 30 in my tank. It's really cool when they breed, they start puffing eggs/sperm into the water. They'll synchronize it every few months.

    Iodine Dip

Iodine based dips are great. I use Tropic Marin's Pro Coral Cure. It gets rid of pests and hitchikers. Lugol's is not commonly used as an additive, but works great as a dip. Keep in mind, though, that most iodine based dip will cause coral to expel some zooxanthellae, which will temporarily...

    Cannister wet/dry

They eventually become waste traps and will slowly leech nitrate and phosphate into your tank. They're great for fish only, but not recomended for a reef. If you need more filtration, you can look into adding a DSB or possibly upgrading your skimmer (if it's not doing enough).

Big Bubble In Middle Of Montipora Plate Coral?

yeah, don't let it pop in your tank, or you'll be seeing A LOT more of them. They pop when they're about that big, so take it out now. Emerald crabs are supposed to eat them, but they won't touch one that big.

    Hard Sand

I would guess calcium buildup, as well. I'm just not sure what could be causing it. What does it feel like? Is it more of a crust, or is it hard the whole way through? Is your sand bed pure white or do you see noticable coraline growth? How old is your sand bed? Did you use name brand sand?

    need advice on sand cleaner!!

Nassarius snails are great for cleaning the sand bed and keeping it stirred up. There are two varieties, I use the big ones. All mine are >3 years old and work hard!

    Advice on bamboos....

I just posted on your other thread about the eggs. Some of this is a copy. The first trick is getting them to eat. I've heard statistics as high as 50% of hatched sharks starve to death. Many will only take live prey at first, and will need to a lot of attention to wean to frozen food. My lfs...

    Shark Eggs... advice??

While I've never dealt with hatching sharks personally, I have some general knowledge. The first trick is getting them to eat. I've heard statistics as high as 50% of hatched sharks starve to death. Many will only take live prey at first, and will need to a lot of attention to wean to frozen...

    Lion Fish invading the Atlantic???

I can see where the "environmentalists" are coming from. These fish are doing massive damage to the ecosystem, and something must be done to stop that damage. That being said, this story shows that aquarists are not to blame for the problem. We, as a group, are very aware of the impact we...

Anyone kept a bunch of dwarf angels together in the same tank?

I'll definitely be watching this thread because I have a coral beauty and my wife REALLY wants a flame angel when our new tank gets all set up.

Has anyone used a Current Fission Nano Skimmer ?

Yeah, they're crap. They don't do anything but put off bubbles into your tank. Take it back and get an AquaC Remora. More expensive, but it woks really well.

    Best Nano Algae Scraper

A 98 cent razor scraper works the best, unless you're using it on acrylic. I'm guessing you are since you said it's a 28. In that case, a plastic putty knife is also a good choice.

    shark in reef tank?

snowflakes and golden dwarf morays (though pricey) are generally considered reef safe eels. There are some others, but those are off the top of my head. The thing about eels is that they're "reef safe" because they don't bother corals. They can, however, bother clams, snails, crabs, shrimp and...

    Clown Trigger color

I feed him whatever seafood I get for myself; I just cut up some raw scraps and he goes nuts. He's always plump looking, and he tells me when he's hungry by popping the water's surface with his mouth. He gets a really varied diet, but I'll try putting more greens in there. Right now his...

    Clown Trigger color

My clown trigger seems to have lost some color over the last couple of weeks. My water tests out ok, and his behavior hasn't changed. He eats everything I put in there, but I'm wondering if he's not getting something in his diet that helps with color. Could this be the case? Possibly...

    eel in reef tank

I have an SFE in my reef and the only non-food item he eats is me! I have a CBS, lots of hermits, and a bunch of snails. For these first six months he has been fine in my reef.

    yellowfin dwarf angel

I have a coral beauty angel in my reef. I've had him for about 2 years now. He's a in a smallish, max stocked tank, and I've had very minimal problems. He nips at my open brain, and very occasionally nips at some zoa's. I've never actually seen him do any damage at all, ever. Mine is from...
