    Clown Trigger Diet

How long will the clams live in the tank if I don't crack them?

    Clown Trigger Diet

Hey thanks for the great responses guys. So if I pick up some raw shrimp from the grocery store, I just leave it in it's shell, no need to do anything to it? I already feed quite a varied diet, my wife says my fish eat better than we do. If I feed it a clam, I can just drop the live clam in...

    Clown Trigger Diet

I just bought a clown trigger, a fish that I've been wanting for a long while now. I've been reading about husbandry on this and some other sites, and have found a few things about diet specifics. I have some questions over what I've read: 1) Some things say to keep them well fed, some say...

Is this normal for a Niger?

Yup, agreed, this is normal. However, mine has NEVER missed feeding time. Well, he did once, and then made up for it by snacking on my finger! He definitely got fed after that!

    Clown Triggerfish changing colors?

yeah, they do undergo some changes as they grow. for example, here's a photo I found on another site of one that's about 2". They also lose some color at night, as all triggers do.

    Snowflake Eel

Mine is housed with a coral banded shrimp and has never even noticed it. Of course, CBS are some of the most dominant shrimp, so that could be the cause. I wouldn't put it with a peppermint or cleaner. I have a turbo, some cerith, and a bunch of nassarius, and the eel has never bothered any...

I was reading the book "Ultimate Marine Aquariums" and.....

Rather than having the coral, I'd like to have a tank that could contain a coral like that. Someone must have spent a pretty penny on that setup!

    Is This Red Slime???

I would use a TDS meter to make sure your topoff/water change supply is clean. Anything higher than 40 is asking for trouble. Test freshwater, don't even bother trying to test water with salt already in it. I would do some water changes with water from a different source, see if that helps...

    Snowflake Eel

I have a snowflake eel in my 30long and he's really happy. I made the mistake of getting him used to eating out of my hand...don't do that. But hey, getting him out wouldn't be a problem. He bites me and latches on and I can pull my hand all the way out and he still hangs on. I just have to...

How Many Damsels In A 75

Yeah, that many damsels is not a good idea. It's your tank, don't let anyone tell you what to do, but we're pretty much all in agreement that they will kill each other off.

I realized today that I forgot to put the styrofoam under the tank. The bottom is a flat sheet of glass, so in order to ensure even weight distribution, it need a 1/2" foam sheet underneath. It took me and 3 friends to manhandle it up on the stand, so I'm not looking forward to doing that...

    microbubbles

Yeah, I have a skimmer that returns LOTS of bubbles, and I have them building up on the bottoms of rocks, etc. I just go in every few days wave my hands around under there, and the bubbles are gone. My fish don't even seem to notice them.

Lighting - Whats up with this?

I agree, the next troubleshooting step is to switch the ballasts. I'd put my money on that being the problem, especially if you've tried switching the bulbs around.

    Bristle worm question

Bristle worms have gotten a bad rap. They are harmless and are actually really good detritavores. I would leave it in until it gets to be about 6" long. Fireworms tend to be more aggressive and they pack a nasty punch, but Bristles are fine.

The sump inside the stand. There's lots of room to spare. I plan on putting a calcium reactor, etc in here. I almost went with the next size larger sump, now I'm glad I didn't.
