    Flame Scallop

I would try phyto, but as meowzer said it's going to be a losing battle. I've never heard a flame scallop success story.

    Algae problem

The coralife super skimmer is a piece of junk. This was my first skimmer back in '03. They are very tempermental- constant adjustment is needed and they have a tendency to overflow for no apparent reason. I came home numerous times to a flooded floor thanks to this skimmer. If you are doing...

    Algae problem

Tap water varies from region to region, while some can use it with no adverse affects others will have significant algae blooms. A TDS meter is needed to know whether your tap water is acceptable. Mine was not, hence the ro/di unit.

    Water tick???

Its a zoa spider and can wipe out your zoas quickly. Watch your zoas for any recession as where there is one, there are usually many. Lugols or an iodine dip will remove any more that you cannot see. It's been a while since I dipped a coral but if you google "lugols dip" you will find all...

    Algae problem

The brita filter is no where near sufficient for saltwater and your algae issues will continue while it is in use. Look into ro/di filters, they are not that expensive and will save you from numerous headaches down the road. A skimmer will help as well but properly filtered water will make a...

    Mantis v. Trigger

The trigger will kill the mantis unless you get a large spearer mantis (hard to find for sale), then it's a toss up of whoever attacks first. Smasher mantis generally do not attack fish unless they are small bottom dwellers, even then they will go after inverts first. A mantis will also be...

    Purple Lobster VS Mantis Shrimp

It depends on the species of mantis and size of both. If the lobster killed the mantis you are still stuck with an opportunistic predator that can be equally hard to catch. A lobster will prey on inverts AND fish which will generally be ignored by smasher mantis', more common hitchhiker than...

    Finnally got one!!! Potters Angel..

I just let him be, fed other fish as normal and he just constantly grazed on the LR. Mature LR got him though the first couple of months. One day he began chasing mysid, then tasting and spitting it out, then one day he just started eating. He ate chopped up squid earlier today which...

    Finnally got one!!! Potters Angel..

I've had a potters going on 4 months. He's in a 150 with about 250-300 lbs of LR. The first two months it only ate from the live rock and glass. Around the 3 month mark it began nibbling at pe mysis and began to eat them after about a week of tasting. He just started eating NLS pellets this...

    Pink Tip Condi

Wear gloves if you don't want to get stung. The "sting" does not hurt it, the tentacles will just stick to you making it hard to place. It will move where it wants to- so placement is a moot point.

    BTA question

I've kept btas in the past under T-5s and their tentacles have always been long and straight. Are they more likely to have the bubble tips under halides? I have a 2x2 cube with a 150 watt 14k bulb that I am thinking about placing a bta in once i sell the rest of my sps. Is the light...

    Damsel yes, but what kind?

I bought 25 of these for an eel tank, they were listed as false yellow tail damsels from my LFS's distributor. The few that survived the eel are quite aggressive.

Yellow headed eel vs. feather duster

IME fish are "safe" as long as the eel is well fed If he wants to eat the damsel or wrasse he will but as long as he is well fed the tankmates should ok. I used to add damsels 25 at a time and half would be gone the next morning, he gets them at night. I've had the same 9 damsels with him for...

Yellow headed eel vs. feather duster

Depends on the size of both. Mine ate a yellow tang that I figured was way to big to be eaten. https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/vb/s...d.php?t=370348
