Also did you leave the lights running while away? Are they on a timer? If the lights where on the whole time that would explain the algae outbreak.

Answered my own question, the cant go strait in, they do sell adapters though. Think Ill just get a new fixture.

I have a Yellow tail, and a 3 striped damsel, also have a bangi cardnial, a black and white clown, and a coral beauty. They all get along fine, if anyone is the devil, its my coral beauty, she will go after anything that gets near her little cave.

TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) just means there is something in the water, the trick is finding out what it is. Then you can tell if it is feeding the algae. A lot of stuff, minerals for one wont effect algae, but are bad for other reasons.

Hey I have a standard NO fixture, I found some T5HO bulbs that are the same size and same ends. My question is can I use them, Or do I need another fixture. I know the T5's will fit in the fixture.

I'm getting this one... AquaC Remora Protein Skimmer. From what I have read on the forums its great for a hang on. Just IMO. But as you will see, the protein skimmer topic has a thousand different views, everyone has there own favorite. :)

I have a 10gal QT, just a heater, in tank filter, and a small power head. Seems to work good. Oh ya, it helps to have some small pvc pipe that they can hide in to reduce stress, and no sand or anything.

I always had micro bubbles coming out of mine, even with trap, but I used amquel for my tap water. Anything like that increases the surface tension of the water, and will make the bubbles worse.

Ditto, mine is about 2 deg lower than my glass one. But if you know how much its off you can still get an Idea of the actual temp.

Ya I know I was dumb for the no QT. I have a 10gal I am going to set up this weekend for a QT and Hospital tank. Have offered frozen Mysis, brine, algae based flake and the dried seaweed. Hoping she'll get used to me and stop hiding when I feed.

No she found her little nook, and chases everyone else away, she is about 3 inches, and my other fish are much smaller. I have a 55gal Fo tank, I put some seaweed in a veggie clip for her, so I hope she is eating that. Just wasn't sure how long she could go without eating the mysis and brine I...

I got a Coral Beauty on Sunday, as of yet she is still not eating, she hides when ever I approach the tank, and the other fish eat everything before she come back out. She is still healthy, how long can she go without food?
