I just called my LFS and they have a aqua fx that does RO and DI for about 200 dollars. Does anyone know about this company? The guy at the store said they make these for several other companies and put their name on them. Any comments from anyone?

I know I'm getting ready to open up a huge can of worms here but what is the best RO/DI system in terms of value (most bang for the buck). My LFS charges $1 a gallon for RO water and with a 75 gallon tank I think I could probably spend a couple hundred dollars pretty quick doing water changes.

I was wondering that. I don't really want to sink 300 dollars into one right now. Do you know of any that are a good deal and still work well? It might be better just to bite the bullet and get one now since I'm planning on doing this for a while.

The cheapest RO/DI water I can find around here is $1 per gallon. Is it still worth it? Any suggestions on what brand of salt to mix in? I'll eventually have corals and fish.

Now I have a followup question. I want to use my tap water for these water changes. I have tested it and ph, amonia, nitrite, and nitrate are all ok. I know I need to dechlorinate it and mix in salt but are there any other things I need to consider? What is the best way to take the chlorine out?

So it seems like the opinion here is that algae will not work, just do water changes until the problem goes away and then start slowly increasing the bioload. I would still be intersted to know about the additional filter media that might help control this problem in the future. Matt
