i have an algal turf scrubber on my 125 it does an awesome job unfortunately you can't buy those..anymore anyway.. when i bought it it cost me 500 bucks but for what it does it was worth it.. my water stays crysal clear all the time. and my nutrients stay down the system also decreases water...

    How do fish sleep?

my hepatus tang wedges himself in the same spot between the back glass of the aquarium and a rock every night. sometimes i'll catch him just laying on his side in the bottom of the tank like he just got home from a long day at work and wants to kick back for a few moment..he's silly <img...

*best* clown pair that will be fine without an anemone?...

yes indeed any clowns can do fine without an anemone.. and pairing up any mature pair of clowns isn't a very easy job. G.S. maroons are a very beautiful fish and are fairly hardy ..they also do quite well without an anemone.. a nice easy way to go if you can't find a pair anywhere is find an lfs...

    star polyps not opening

Your PC's should do the trick with light .they also like a fairly good current..it's neat to watch them as they spread (all over everything) .. if you put them near the back of your tank they will eventually hit your glass and cover it.. i have seen several tanks just covered in these...

    Breeding fish

globe urchins are reef safe... i also put a post on this same quiestion in the fish discussion forum... when trying to breed clowns a good way to do it is to have two tanks set up.. one for the parent clowns and one for your future babies.. put only an optional sand bed and a clay flower pot in...

    star polyps not opening

for some things 24 hours just isn't long enough.. star polyps do normally take a while to fully open up after being introduced ito a tank.. even in perfect conditions.. you'll just have to give it time.. stars are very hardy.. and if the specimen that you bought was a good healthy looking one...

    mis-information

buying a lot of fish small with the intention of waiting till they get older and then moving them is a little troublesome.. fish don't like to be moved.. especially fish who have lived in the same environment for a long period of time.. it's stressful and dangerous to them.. if a tank is going...

    after lights out!

a red light does make it a lot easier to view nocturnal creatures like mysis and copepods... just put some kind of red film over your flashlight.. now the little guys aren't just gonna sit there the whole time and not get a little freaked.. but it keeps them from zipping into their little holes...

How long does it take for ich to spread?

it's possible..if they are pure white then it's pretty likely.. the way a fish feels can often have an effect on it's susceptability to ich.. if it get's stressed it can get it easier. if it's diet is changed it could get it easier.. if the temperature in you tank changes dramatically they could...
