My 125 soon to be system design

Personally, the amount of pods that might be sucked up by the skimmer would be minimal. I don't think that this point is even worth arguing about. Anyway, the amount of pods that end up going through your return pump would would be damaged more than your protien skimmer would do. Either way you...

My 125 soon to be system design

All, thanks for the nice remarks. I HAVE thought about this set up for quite sometime. I got a great deal on the tank, stand and canopy but the only problem is that I can't set it up until I "pergo" the floor in the room where it is going to go. The "Boss" needs the floor redone first. I do...

My 125 soon to be system design

What i was looking to put on the ends of the tank were mushrooms. I would rather have the real light loving creatures in the center and the lower light things on the sides. That is why i put the 250 in the center surrounded by 175's. I was also thinking about sea swirls but i want more movement...

My 125 soon to be system design

Well, finally done the design for the system. check it out and let me know what you think. The return pump may change to an external. We will see. Broomer, if you read this, this is why i busted your chops on the head loss calculation posts a while back. Check out the returns in the tank and you...

ETSS Super Reef Devil Protein Skimmer

Do you think that this would be a good skimmer for a 125 with a relativly medium fish bioload 55g sump/refug. The refug will be about 40% of the sump.

    Naso Tang

I have had my naso for a little over a year now and he eats anything i put in the tank. I may get lamed on this but he loves flake and brine. You could try broccoli (believe it or not mine loves it) and or romaine lettuce. You could also not feed it for a day or two and he will end up going for...

    Do star's legs grow back?

I have the same kind of star and it had no problem regenerating the leg back. took a while but it's baaaak! It was really neat to check in him daily and see the progress.

    Stubborn Anemone!

Man, my green bubble tip did the same thing. He is in the back attached to the bottom of a large rock. There is no way to even move the rock around to the front without restructuring everything in the tank. Well, i hope he is happy back there. :( ~naso

    moon lights ?

Deuce, I use a incandesant 25w blue light that i leave on all night. it has a light sensor that allows the light to come on when all the actinics go out and turns itself off when the first light comes on in the morning. What kind of package did you get?

Pump head calculation - Tricky Question.

All hail the broomer !!! :D :D :D Now, can you put that in plain english or at least,,,,,talk to me like i am 3 years old. Just kidding. That gives me a great guide line for the system. You are probably right about the turn over rate that I am looking for. I thought that 10 times was...

Pump head calculation - Tricky Question.

I have been waiting for YOU broomer. You da man! :D :D :D As for the size of pipe, I guess that it will all be 3/4" from pump to top 90 deg elbow on the overflows then to 1/2" for the parts of tubing in the tank itself.

Return pump for my reef. Head count ???

This is kind of a strange question but I am going to be upgrading from my 55 gallon to a 125 AGA overflowed tank. I think that it is an AGA? Anyway, if I total all plumbing that will be going from my return pump i come up with a total of 12 feet of tubing with 6 90 degree elbows. The 6 L's would...
