    3" & 4" computer fans for canopies

Can you use these kinds of fans for your canopy? If so, most have 2 wire, mostly red and black. How would you connect them. Can you connect a standard 2 prong plug to them. I will be installing with a DIY MH set up. Not a PFO, I need to do the lighting wiring myself as well. Is there a...

    MH canopy

The bulbs themselves need to be at least 8" above the water. You would do best if you have a total height of 12" for the canopy.

    250w MH's 4.5" from water. Water / heat dilema

60+ bucks on new bulbs but that doesn't include all the small glass fragments that will be in your tank, fish, corals etc. That 60+ could turn into humdreds!!! Be carefull.

    Spreadsheet for tracking tank info

i like it when you have an idea but your just too busy to do and someone does it for you. :D Great Job! Only thing that I would change, and I did it on the sheet that I downloaded, are the perfect levels. If this is for a reef you may want to consider raising some of the specs. Temp: 79-80...

    visi jet protien skimmer help

I had one of these on a 37 gallon. To be honest, they are a piece of s***. I had it working a little bit by adding an air pump with an air stone to it. I simply drilled a hole below the foam cup, inserted a small airline tube, connected an airstone to the tube, pushed the stone to the bottom of...

The number keeps going down, help!

Test for copper. If you don't have a test, get one. A trace of copper will kill inverts like that.

Wierd temp rise, hasn't hurt anything yet but ....

Hey All - something very strange has been happening with the temp in the tank lately. I constantly check my temp before bed and it is usually 79-80 degrees. As soon as I wake the next morning, the first thing I do is check on the temp again. For the past week or so it has been between 84-85.6...

how do I put sand in?

The best way i have found is to do what jw said and use a pvc pipe...but, get your sand wet before. there will be a lot less, if none, "smoke" dust when you pull the pipe out. add it slow. i have a 2 foot pipe and stick it in the tank all the way down to the current sand bed and fill the pipe...

Cycling a tank with household ammonia

In my opinion, that sounds "effin" crazy!! <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" /> I have heard of using store bought shrimp like the kind that you would get for peel and eat or shrimp cocktail. only my opinion though.

Difference between RO and DI water makers??????????

I was looking into getting an RO unit from Kent and read that the one I was interested in, 50gpd, will produce 3 gallons of waste water for every 1 gallon of RO water. WHAT A WASTE!! <- no pun intended. So, if I wanted to make 50 gallons in one day, I would be wasting 150 gallons of water? I...

    Copper Pipes and RO/DI Units

Hey mullet, thanks for the input. I will be running about 2 rooms away to the tank as well. I think I will use some small strong tubing (not copper) to run from the Unit to the tank. Do you use it to constantly drip to the sump for top off? Or do you have it drain into a large container for...

    Copper Pipes and RO/DI Units

This may be a dumb question but for all those who either have an RO or a DI or an RO/DI unit. How do you have it plumbed? Do you have copper pipe running to the unit then use regular tubing? Do you have it plumbed directly from the mains water line? I am just curious, if you have copper piping...
