    Yes, I would vaccum the CC during water changes. It will do more good then harm. Distilled water should not contain ammonia unless it has been contaminated some how.

    Generally 10% a month. It varies though depending on the system conditions. If I feel like more water changes are needed to keep things in balance I will do them.

    jhead, Almost anywhere that sells the meters will sell the cal solutions also. The most common are 4 - 7 - 10. For aquarium use 4 is used for FW and 10 is used for SW while 7 can be used for both. Search around the cal solutions are easy to find.

    Some meters are single calibration and some are dual point calibration. The dual point meters tend to be more accurate. The is storage solution specifically made for pH probes. Try searching some of the lab equipment web sites.

    I dont have experience with the floating type but can tell you from experience with the swing arms they will go bad over time. I recently purchased a refractometer and would highly recommend them to anyone. They are coming down in price to an affordable range. I got mine for $69.

    As viper12775 mentioned it is a seaclone. Many people bash the seaclone for not working but as you can see by the picture mine is working nicely. The picture is from a 29 a had set up for years. I have now moved to a 55 and still run the seaclone.

    $.25 a gallon at a vending machine. RO, UV, Carbon and other filtration. I couldnt ask for any better water for the price.
