AGA no longer make 40L tank?

Most likely the brace is plastic, and most likely the tank is not tempered, except for MAYBE the bottom. Oh, and AGA DOES still make the 40 long according to thier website.

    VHO Ballasts

I also prefer manufactured items, especially electrical. I'm not an electrician, not even all that conversant with wiring. I can install a ceiling fan, or replace a light switch, but thats about the limit of my meager abilities.

    Salt?

I used Cora-life for the first filling of my tank, but Instant Ocean for all water changes since.

    Fed up with Rio powerheads

I have a marineland Penguin 550 powerhead and its the most reliable pump I've had so far, not counting the pump in my emporer 400 on my freshwater tank. I also have a pair of maxi-jet 1200's that came with seaclone skimmers, got one on a skimmer, the other sitting in the closet till i can devise...

    VHO Ballasts

PFO makes a nice ballast I've heard. I plan to get one myself, mainly because of the good things I have heard, and the price is right. I'm getting a 4 bulb unit thats already wired with endcaps and I believe its gonna cost about 170 bucks, not including the timers I plan to get.

    Emperor 400-noise reduction?

Impeller is a bit out of alignment, mine on my 55 freshwater tank does this every time I take the impeller houseing out to clean it. Takes a bunch of fiddling to get it silent again, but it always gets silent. Just fiddle with it, lift the impeller housing up a hair, shove it back in hard, move...

    Here goes nothing

I just ordered 2 50# bags of southdown online for 64.24 with shipping. Better than paying 37 bucks locally for a 30 pound bag of Caribsea Aragamax. Should take me about a month at least to get my DSB in. <sigh> Worth it though.

Best skimmer for a 180g reef

I've also heard nothing but good things about the euro-reef units. I intend to get one sometime after this winter.

    cloudy glass

If there is water and life in the tank, don't use vinegar, and definitely not rubbing compound, that will scratch the glass.

    Does coralline bleach?

Urchins eat coralline also, as do some snails I hear, and perhaps some stars.

stopping the splash of the in sump skimmer outlet!

One more thing, you will of course after you set your sump capacity where you want it, need to remove water to add rock, sand, and whatever else in the tank, since that displaces water. Another thing, if your overflow loses siphon when you shut the pump off, no worries, just make sure the tank...

stopping the splash of the in sump skimmer outlet!

easiest way to figure out sump capacity is to get your overflow installed and working, then just fill the tank up, shut the main pump off, and keep pouring water slowly into the tank so it drains into the sump to within about 2 inches of the top. Once it gets to that point, wait a while and be...

    Chipped 50 gallon

I bumped the edge of mine with one of those 6 cell mag flashlites and chipped it right in the seam. Its a tiny chip though, and its held water for at least 2 years. What gets me though is when I first bought the tank and got it home and took it out of its packing, I noticed two big honkin...

    Turboflotor 1000?

Saltwater is denser than freshwater, so the bubbles in freshwater will be quite a bit larger than those made in saltwater. Totally normal.

    cloudy glass

If you go the vinegar route, use cider vinegar, the distilled white stuff is already diluted to 5% with water and you'd have to let whatever it is soak in it for quite some time before any stains start to go away. Don't let any of it get INSIDE the tank, your water will not like you for it (ph...

    OT--Dremel Tool Choice?

Cord, most definitely. The one I have is also variable speed from 0-35,000 RPM, the cordless units only have perhaps 3 or 4 speeds if that.
