i would not get it drilled...if its not that way form lfs... i wouldnt chance it at all... could shatter and then your out a tank... glass shops wont garentee it from breaking so again.. chance...to many chance for something to go wrong... get an over flow box.. chaper and less hassle.... just...

i would look at home depot or lowes... they do sell them... not the best but might be what your looking for

well as for desings... go to lfs and look around... but most of make all hardware brass or stainless steel..that way it wont corriode to bad...lot of ideas out there... but ive seem to think its best to see one at lfs with your buddy and then toss some ideas around with him while there...think...

what i mean by better pump is that you should need a stronger pump..head psii is what is created by trying to pump water uppp a certian hight(suchh as 4ft from botoom of cabinet to topp of tank..)you will have to look at pumps flow rates on pagage too see how muchh flow decreases after going...

a friend of mine and i have tried such a device and works rather well... parts are 1 15gal tank 1 25watt heater 10 lbs of CC(for a ph buffer) no lights or tops 1 50gph Ph 1 dark room timer..(very important to get correct timmer) we placed it all below tank and he happens to have a sump... this...

dont glue the motor in....i would use a lubercent like a vasaline or something like to help seal the moter...but dont use vasaline...its not the right thing to use on saltwater...i be willing to bet some has a better lube to use..dont want the seal to be permanent...need to be able to take apart...

do you have a sump?if you do .. i would put skimmer on the sump...as for being a have to have for a reef only i dont think its nessary.. but im not all sure of it...

well as for brand names theres many.. what kind? again 4 types to go with.. for what your wanting theres three... VHO+MH pc+MH PC+VHO.. you would to get somewhere from 4 to 7 watts a gallon...so the math part is easy... just the money for some... money no prob... go with VHO+MH 2-o3actinc vhos...

well if there two diff coloer then it must be either bad bulbs.... that either was shipped to you or your ballests made itturn that way... i would return them to store and thry them in in other peploes hood first to see what they look like,, then you can see if there ok for your hood...

well a little more info please...over what size tank is this? sounds like eiter a bad ballest or wiring...mmmiight need more fans to let the heat out on the ends..if there are none// add them. on plug for halids? or two? if two..try both on a diff outlet in the house on extension cord to see if...

i run the chep light fixture from Home Depot... two of them.. yes they work on the 48"tubes... 40 watts..they work fine.. heat yes but not o bad..will workk for a while while i build a new light hood for vho's was also looking at there MH's bulbs..dot some 100watts ans 175 watts...need to find...

well i will tell you no other light should go into your stock abs hood... any other might melt it down...look for on that is a sit on tank model ..in its on fixture... as for making one... if your ok with POWER TOOLS the make a canopony for you tank...not that hard...go to lfs for ideas and see...

well i dont use any buffers... i keep the tank toped offed...want low..can tell when it get low due to pump bing in sump and when its low it blows bubbles...well nothing dies due to 50% water change last night...will test again in the afternoon... hope i get it down soon... as for alk ... im...

Now i do weeky ck of the water...on sat afternoon..usally...this weekend was no diff...always 8.1,,,now i bought a perc clown on sat...he died today... i took water sample to LFS and ph was 9.0...yes9.0.... came home a tested and got same...now doing a 50% water change...now how did it get that...
