Just had to share some pics of my new liverock!

I got this new rock on Friday. For those familiar with the place - I got it from Tropicorium (Romulus, MI). I got 50 pounds ... 10 is Fiji.. the rest is premium Vanauatu rock... Never hear of Vanauatu rock before but it looks great! Here is the first pic...

Would raw shrimp cause dust cloud?

Just setting up a new tank... After my southdown cloud calmed down I put in the sump one of those blue/white filter pads to catch the rest of the garbage that was floating around. This ran for a while and the water was very very clear. I took the filter pad out and noticed as I did that it left...

    RODI Not producing water??

Since you said the water comes out fast when the membrane is removed... seems like your lines are fine. If you still have your old membrane - I'd try putting it back in just to verify that all is still well and see the expected output/flow. If this still works -- then maybe you bought the wrong...

    Need Help!!!!! So frustrated!

Just for comparison... I have a 75GPD RO/DI (6-stage) and make a measuring cup of water in 1 minute 50 seconds which is about a gal of water in 29 minutes. It's well low of the advertised GPD even though I've got excellent water pressure. Anyone else time their output? I'm curious now... :D

AGA overflow with Mag9 - Need help

Thanks for the ideas... I did make the slots a little wider -- I used a drill bit a little wider than the slots and opened them up a bit. (It's a standard AGA corner overflow). Right now my slots are very close to being fully covered in water flow. So I think this has solved my original...

AGA overflow with Mag9 - Need help

Instead of gonig OVER the top of the slots what if you just made the slots wider. This way more volume of water will pass through the slots and thus lower the water level to be lower in the slots --- should create more surface skimming - right?

AGA overflow with Mag9 - Need help

I increased the width of the slots and now the slots are keeping up with the MAG9. The water flow is such that just the very top of the slots are shown - the rest is under water. I don't think you want the water going over the overflow wall above the slots -- this would allow fish etc to fall...

AGA overflow with Mag9 - Need help

The water inside of the corner overflow stays low - so the water is getting down the drain fast enough. The water in the tank rises higher and higher until it is over the slots. I think I need to increase the water flow into the overflow chamber - by possibly opening the slots a little wider to...

AGA overflow with Mag9 - Need help

Good suggestion... I took off the durso and what I noticed was that the water in the overflow chamber did not rise much. It appears that the water is just not getting into the overflow fast enough. Any suggestions on the best way to widen the slots. I read some posts that suggested removing a...

AGA overflow with Mag9 - Need help

I can't seem to get my water level correct... I've got a 90gal with the AGA built in overflow. I'm using a MAG 9.5 in the stand directly under the tank. I also have a Durso with 1.25 inch pipe down through a 1 inch bulkhead. I'm wondering if the AGA overflow just can't handle the MAG9 at about...

    padding under in-sump pump?

Silcon --- I would have never thought of that. What a great idea! And I just happen to have some left over from putting baffles in my sump. I think I'll put some on the bottom of the pump and let it dry. THANKS.

    padding under in-sump pump?

I've got a MAG9 that I'll be using inside a sump. After doing a test run I noticed that the pump vibrates on the glass - which equals noise and movement of the pump which is attached with flex hose. What could I put under the pump to prevent this... that would also be safe and not...

    Backround Help

I'm not sure your reasons to not paint it.... but just a thought here: I used flat black latex paint on mine -- rolled it on with a 4in roller - 3 coats. I used latex _just in case_ I ever wanted to remove it. The latex will peel off the glass with no problem if I ever decided to get rid of it.

    Plywood below tank or not?

I put a sheet of plywood on the top of mine... My thought was that my AGA tank has a black plastic frame that goes around the entire bottom of the tank. So, all of the outside edges of glass are resting and supported on this frame. So to me, it didn't seem to really matter if the tank sat on...
