    Talk about TICKED!!!

I have 2 GSMs, 2 Pajama Cardinals and a Coral Beauty in a 75 Gal reef. Recently the female GSM (about 4 inches long) has been hosting 2 large clumps of Xenia. She is a VERY happy camper when they are out...but as soon as they retract she really gets TICKED. So bad, that she grabs the Xenia...

    Colorblind and ID?

Ok...so I'm colorblind. Kept me out of Annapolis after I flunked the physical...twice. That's beside the point now...I've recently added a moonlight...and with so have noticed a few "bright points" in my tank that just jump out at me. At first it was my Zoos...each polyp seems like a laser...

    Willing to Host...

Ok...so my GSM clowns quit fanning the aiptasia (soon to be hit with Joe's Juice) and have moved on to bigger and better things. They are now hosting my Xenia. It's a riot to watch...the female just dives in and rolls around. She gets the Xenia pulsing around her head like a huge boa...and...

    Molting?

I've had a cleaner shrimp for about 2 weeks now...and it's molted twice already. Any idea how often they molt? My readings are... ammonia - 0 tirites - 0 trates - .25 Phos - .25 temp - 79 cal - ~420 dkh - 110 ph - 8.2 iodine - barely even registers on the test. I have been using Purple Up since...

    Big or Small?

When choosing a fish...especially an angel or a butterfly...which do you prefer? A big or small one? I can see the advantages to both. A small/young one is not as set in it's ways, thus making it's adapting to food & captivity much easier. The larger/older fish are more established making...

    Hosting Aiptasia???

Get a load of this...one of my GSMs is constantly fanning a small aiptsia and bringing it food. Anyone else ever have this happen? I'm unable to reach the aiptasia at this time, but once it grows I'll introduce it to my friend Joe and his special juice...

    High dKH

Will raising my calcium levels help to lower my dKH if I have a low calcium reading (FOWLR) and a high dKH? ph is consistantly 8.2.

    Controlling Sawblade Caulerpa?

I bought some new live rock a few weeks ago. It had a few blades of algae growing on it...as time has passed this appears to be a very fast growing algae called sawblade caulerpa. Any idea how I can control it short of busting out my hedge trimmers? Is it something that I want/need to control?

    Featherduster vs. ?

Ok...I recently added some new live rock. On that rock came some snails, hermits, and a camel shrimp. When I got home last night...one of my featherdusters was gone...with surgical precision. It's tube had been sliced (a very clean...non jagged cut) about half an inch down the 4 inch tube...

    Qt?

Ok...If my marriage can survive this hobby...it'll survive anything! Now...on to my questions. I just bought a long 20 gallon tank...a fluval 3+ canister filter...a heater & thermometer. Is there anything else that I need besides some pvc cover for the fish? Is this a good set up for a qt...

    Lighting for Xenia & Shrooms?

I have a 75 gallon FOWLR that I would like to start adding to...in the future. The tank is tall, and certainly not as wide as I would've liked (but I was given the tank). I currently have a 36" 4 bulb VHO with 2 10K and 2 actinics on top...and another 30" that I can add as well. Would this...

    Plastic Hydrometer = GARBAGE!!!!!

I just wanted to share a recent experience. I'm very new to the saltwater aquarium hobby having inherited a tank and some fish from a relative about a month and a half ago. He didn't have a hydrometer so I picked up a plactic hydrometer shortly after setting things back up and religiously used...

    Inherited Problems

Any help would really be appreciated. About a month ago I inherited a 75 gallon FOWLR from a relative. I transported the system across town and got it all set back up keeping almost all of the original water...minus a 15 gal water change used to refill the sump. The system had been ignored...
