Clown citron goby - what to feed

I know this is a popular fish for nano tanks... for those of you who have one, what do you feed it? The description on this site says that they eat live brine and plankton...

    how often do you feed?

Since feeding is often a hot question, especially for people new to the hobby... how often do you feed your tank? -= EDIT =- Grrr - this was going to be a poll, but the max # of options for a poll is 2, I didn't think it would be all that helpful. Now I've got this useless thread sitting here...

    ? about AP filtration setup

In my first run through this hobby I had a more "traditional" setup - a main display tank with an overflow that fed a sump. One very nice thing about that setup was that the water level in my display tank never changed, rather the level in the sump went up and down with topoffs and evaporation...

how does temp/salinity affect ca/alk readings?

I've recently started testing alk and I'm trying to get a better understanding of how various water parameters affect each other. Last night I did a full batch of tests on both my current tank water (which I've been having some trouble with lately) and a fresh batch of water all mixed up and...

    aquapod MH coloring

I'm thinking about upgrading the 54w PC setup I have over my AP12 to the 14k 70w HQI halide option. Anyone running the halide over their Aquapod? How is the coloration? Pics would be great.

new pics of my 12g (xpost from nano)

The tank is just a little over 2 months old, so I took some new pics last night. It's hard shooting through the curved glass, so not all of them turned out. Here are some of the better ones.

    nutrition for corals

I know that most corals are primarily, if not entirely photosynthetic. But I'm wondering how important it is to provide additional nutrition for those corals that also filter feed. I've got a 12g tank with the following corals: - mushrooms (red, watermelon, and hairy) - ricordia - blastos - zoos...

is redoing rockwork good for a tank?

I have a tendancy to redo my rockwork every few months. I do it for 2 reasons - 1) to get water flow where it wasn't before and to get new parts of rock exposed to light/current/etc. 2) to make room for new corals and such. I try to disturb the sand as little as possible, but is redoing the...

can you run lights too long?

I'm thinking about running my moonlights (2 LEDs) from 6am - 10pm, and my 10k/actinic bulbs (1 27w actinic, 1 27w 10k) from 8am - 8pm. This is over my 12g nano. Any reason why I shouldn't do this? Algae is not a problem for me. I just want to get more light to my corals.

    good news and bad news

Last weekend I got a whole butt-load of coral for a local reefer moving to strictly SPS. The other day I was moving a few of them around, adjusting my water flow, etc trying to keep everyone happy. The result: some very happy corals, especially my frogspawn and hairy mushroom, but also 1 broken...

Hey Mods: can I complement an online retailler?

I recently purchased an RO/DI filter from an on-line retailler. All they do are RO/DI units and related equipment. I had a very good experience... and since it's rare that a company meets my standards for service, I'd like to give them a little word-of-mouth promotion. Is that acceptable, or...

    RO vs RO/DI

OK, first some background so you know why I'm asking... I have a 12g tank - I'm battling an algae problem (diatoms). Phosphates are a bit high (1ppm). I suspect silicates are also high, due to the diatoms. trates/trites/ammonia/ph/sg/temp are all excellent (can't test for anything else as yet)...

hey mods: need to edit my sig

I know sigs are turned off, but I have info in my sig from way back when that is now wrong (I don't have those tanks anymore). Is there a way to change my sig so if/when people view my profile they aren't mislead? I don't care if one of you edits it for me or what, but I no longer have the 44...
