what type of reef. sps need a lot more flow than a lps tank. if you are going to mix you are gonna want a couple sizes strategically placed so you dont blast your lps.

diatoms your tank is new, they all get them in the beginning. they will go away with time on their own. many people have them for 6 weeks so you got another month to go.

if it is for a reef i would say no go because they are very efficient at converting waste down to nitrates. many people with large predator tanks use them.

every wire that goes down or horizontal should have drip loops to break the waters surface tension.

that looks like a catalina pump so it is what comes with the skimmer from many suppliers.

just saw that it goes up even higher i n the next room. the skimmers water level is at the top of that point you def need to raise the skimmer, and might need a larger pump to make up for the increased head pressure from pumping up higher

part of the issue might be that the exit pipe on the skimmer goes up not straight out, so the water level in the skimmer is at the level of the pipe going out not the outlet of the skimmer. you are going to need to raise the skimmer or cut a hole lower to let the outlet go out straight.

is the air intake near the top of the tall tube clogged. the skimmers pump tube should be going in the top drawing air in the intake right near the top. there should be some minibioballs in the tube near the bottom to help mix the air and water.

sounds like you have the bulk reef plus system. the lower micron will help your carbon filters that are more expensive last longer. i would order the 1st carbon block at the same time along with 2 sediment filters. it seems to work out for me that i need to replace my 1st carbon for every 2...

i think rugular instant ocean was changed recently and now contains more calcium. many members on another board are basically saying there is no reason to buy reef crystals.

no large angles, a yellow tang or kole would be okay but dont purchase a show size and these are more common so not exactly a center piece. rabbit fish are a little more rare and more expensive but would be okay in your 75 and make a nice show fish.
