    Coral Panic

I think the SG change was the key to a slow return....also...how quick was the water change....? Sometimes too much too quick is stress city. Water from RO? Treated? Also....any change in Ammonia levels?

    emerald crabs

YES - they can knock over things - and I have seen them lift items MUCH bigger than they are - BUT I believe they serve a mighty purpose. I have never seen them destroy anything of value - and only see them munching away at hair algae and leftover foods. I consider them cleaners and they are...

    My 180 - at 2 months.

Oh sorry - the flow nozzles are in the corners. Flow goes against the front glass in both cases and seems to keep all happy. :-)

    My 180 - at 2 months.

I have the return from the refugium and nothing else right now. I have no problem with nitrites or nitrates - and it seams that the flow is both sufficient and keeping things happy. When I need to clean - and when I water change - I get things stirred up to be sure of no dead areas. I have 3...

    My 180 - at 2 months.

Yes - some of the contents came from my 46 bow front that is no longer up. Most of it was in tubs in the garage curing prior to start up - The black background was suggested on my previous tank after someone saw a photo of it with a blue background. I actually painted this one - no water...

    SPONGE help ... any thoughts.

I am finding more and more sponge growing under rocks - etc in my 180 reef. My 75 G refugium has none. I occasionally clear away sponge when it seems to interfer with normal open/close of my corals - mainly Ricordias on a Tonga Branch ... Should I be concerned - it just seems to be showing up...

Tang rebounded, but am i in the clear?

I am not a "you gotta have a 6 foot tank to keep a tang" guy - but you have too small of a tank for that tang. :-( If you are still using the nano. Tangs are tough sometimes - too many factors can upset the apple cart - stress - water quality - change of venue - etc. A tang could get it's...

VERY SERIOUS QUESTION! buying fish online?

Online purchases are great - eliminates the holding tank at the LFS (as he gets the fish from somewhere too). The key is always aclimation! Do not rush the process and do not add the shipping water to your tank. ALWAYS net your fish, etc. - when shipping most add supliments to help buffer the...

    How much PUMP?

I have a 180 gallon set up as a reef with a 75 G refugium. I would be glad to share my experiences with you. I did not drill the 75 - return pumps are in last created chamber.

    Blue jaw trigger

My Blue Jaw LOVES Marine Cuisine - also chopped squid and always Mysis and Brine. He even eats pellet and flake food now. Sometimes the marks can be from hiding in the substrate - they tend to mark themselves up - but it sounds like ich. Once it settles in - that to will pass as long as the...

The "DO NOT..." Advice List for Saltwater Aquarists

DO NOT trust the settings on a heater. (test first) DO NOT let a LFS guilt you into anything. :-) DO NOT drop anything into your tank that will land in your carpet anenome. DO NOT confuse top off water with water change water ... dead sea anyone? DO NOT try to explain to you mother in law how a...
