    algae growth

Can someone tell me if actinic light can promote algae growth? I'm battling a hair algae problem and I know part of the solution is to reduce your lighting times. I was wondering if actinic light is in the right spectrum to promote growth. If it isn't I'd like to keep my actinic lights on longer...

    wrasse recommendation

Sorry I forgot to post the size, it's a 60 gallon tank. I'm a little confused on the fairy wrasse. Is that a certain type of wrasse like a dwarf angel where there are many different types of fairy wrasses or is that the name of one specific type. GG's post threw me off a little bit because of...

    removing live rock

OK I have to get a fish out of my tank. Just picked him up two days ago and he is attacking everything in the tank, especially Nemo for some reason. I 'm afraid he's going to seriously hurt or kill him so I don't have the time to mess around with traps and other tricks to get him out. I want to...

    actinic light

It's becoming quite apparent that I need to scrap my current lights and upgrade in order to house an anenome. What I have now is 2 standard flourescent lights 1 actinic/1 daylight. I really don't want to use Mh because I don't have any way of hanging the lights, they are quite expensive, they...

    actinic light

The reason why I ask is because my goal was to get an anenome for my clown and my lfs sold me this actinic light saying that the anenome would need it to live. I then talked to a diff lfs and they told me that the white or day light is what was needed by the anenome. Both are flourescent HO...

Can someone enlighten me on the purpose of a HO actinic light? Does it serve any purpose or is it just for looks?

yes I have small hermits but I don't think that is the problem. Usually hermits just go after the snails for their shells and these snails are about a thousand times the size of the hermit crabs.

    light/anenome question

My tank is over a year old, sorry I did not point that out. My understanding is that their are a couple of types of anenome that do not require high intensity lighting. But back to the original question. I was just curious which light provides what anenome need to live. The day light or the actinic.

    light/anenome question

I would like to get an anenome for my false perc one day so I'm trying to do some research on lighting and had some questions. I've spoken with 2 different lfs and both have given me different answers. One told me that I need an actinic light for an anenome and the other told me that the actinic...

    formula two flake

Just curious if this is bad for fish in any way? Regular feedings consist of different frozen foods and I also make some food for them as well but they all love the flake food so when I give them a pinch here and there as a snack. Tried to do a search and I saw a lot of recommendations for the...
