I am now on week 2 and will be cleaning the screen tomorrow for the 2nd time. There is so much algae that it is growing off the screen and into the water. Is this algae bad to have floating around? I have never had hair algae on my rock and am afraid this will seed the rock? YES the screen is...

Here is my go at it. I have been battling algae on the sand and rocks even though I cut way back on feeding and do 20% water changes with pure fresh ro/di I need to find a better mounting system for the lights but the flow with no screen in is about 550gph and the screen is 13" wide.

What the heck is in my tank!?!?

Let the more experienced tell you but in my case I watched exactly where it went and I could NOT find it. I wish now that I would have taken the rock he was going under and all the sand from that area out and put it in a container and boiled it out or freshwater dipped it to see if it would...

    Is this really cyano? pics

I would describe it as a crust on the sand. I see no slime but I do not let it go very long without pulling the top layer off. As for the rocks..well. there is a lot of rock in there and I just gave up trying to aquascape how I wanted, it is hard to see in the pics but there are plenty of...

Equipment List for 150G FOWLR build

Instead of 2 x 36" units look at the 72" nova extreme pro. I have it and like it but I will be selling it to possibly get the outer orbit w halides. Also consider a reeflo dart for your pump because it is very quit and low energy draw. I also was able to fit the MSX extreme 250/Oct extreme 250...

Actual footprint of Octopus Extreme Model 250 ?

Yes you can fit it then. Allow room to be able to rotate it down into your skimmer section. Mine is on a 150g which I am sure is overkill.

    sexing my new mandarin ?

Yes I do have LR in the QT and also put a chunk of my chaeto in a small tupperware container with a peice of rock on it as well as some in my HOB filter. I did also dump a bottle of tigger pods in it so it is more like a small home not a QT lol. I Qt everything and will not take a chance.

Actual footprint of Octopus Extreme Model 250 ?

The skimmer portion is exactly 12"x16" 12" is the absolute minimum it will fit. 1/4" less would be a no go. I have a dwyer rmb version 10-100 scfm meter coming this week so I will let you know how it goes. For now I am still on the pin wheels.
