    Puffer Question for newbie.

I have a puffer and a toby in a 90gal with a bahama star. While they're not the prettiest star in the world, it's still alive and adds something different to what was a FOWLR tank.

    whos doing it

I'd put my money on the PBT. They're territorial as hell and so are the maroons. The maroon has been in there longer, and is most likely starting the scuffles, but the PBT is finishing them.

    snail shells

you can also *usually* buy some snail shells from your LFS. They have a lot of die off because typically they just toss the snails in thier tanks. Mine sells them 20 for a dollar. You want to boil them before putting them in, to ensure that whatever was in it before is completely gone. And, in...

    favorite community fish

Please no tangs in a 30gal ;) Every gramma I've had has been a mean SOB that I ended up giving away. Maybe I'm just "lucky" though.

I think my lion fish is dying.

It could have just been the lionfish. If it was a Fu Manchu, it probably didn't fare well during shipping. They rarely do. I really would wait a bit on fish. I know it's not a lot of fun, but when adding new fish to a new tank, you come up with a lot of casualties. I also don't feel that...

    Super Fish???

I wouldn't call flame angels hearty...whatever fish you decide to get, make sure it's not a bottom dweller (unless it's like a mandarin or something that nothing really picks on if it can't eat it.) you've got two established pretty mean bottom dwellers already. I'd get a couple of chromis...

    Loins venom(how potent)

I dunno, my boyfriend was messing around with the rock in the 200gal and got stuck by my Volitans (8-9") and he whined a bit, but nothing happened. Course, he's also 6'5"....in terms of a child, I'd say just ensure that they do not get in the tank.

    New shrimp?

It very well could have come out of there, but it might not be a good hitch hiker. A lot of mantis shrimp will come in on live rock. You should do a search for mantis shrimp online and look at some pictures. If what you saw looks like one, you'll want to get it out and either dispose of it, send...

How many fish do you have?

Well, it takes me about 20 minutes to feed them all. (and the only one I overfeed is the porker puffer) But I have three large tanks and one small one.

    Food...what Kind??

You might also want to start varying the food that you feed the fish. Although some fish I have (marine betta) will only eat squid. Absolutely refuses to eat anything else. The saltwater multipacks cover a pretty good base of vitamins, proteins, etc that will extend the life/coloration of your...

OT: getting to know the people behind the posts

This is me a while back. I don't typically look like a hooker...in fact I hate makeup. I was dressed up for something.

i want a mean but colorfull fish any ideas

I think it depends on what you mean by aggressive. A lot of people consider lionfish aggressive, because they usually need to be weaned from live to frozen foods. Personally, I've always found lionfish to be the exact opposite of aggressive. Unless it can fit in their mouth, they leave it alone...

    Positive species ID

http://www.reefimages.com/cgi-reefim...name=A7805.jpg ?? It looks like it to me, but I'm not looking at the fish either, a lot of fish look really different in pictures.

I think it's a juvenile Diana's...I'm almost positive of it. How big is it?

    Loins venom(how potent)

It's not life-threatening unless you're possibly allergic to bees. Run hot water over the sting. The best way, however to prevent this is to make sure your child doesn't get into the tank :) Get some clamps or something to keep the lid down.

    bottom feeder and puffer

If you're looking for a sand-sifter, I'd go with a dragon goby..oh wait! I *did* go with a dragon goby in my porker puffer tank! They're very pretty and large enough that the puffer doesn't mess with them. They also keep the sand looking good. They eat all of the sand buggies, but if you're like...

    SFE in trouble...

I had something similar happen with my Volitans a while ago. except that it wasn't rock, it was the large grade live sand that I put in my 200gal trying to save a bit of money. I'd had him for quite a while, so it was a bit of a punch in the gut for me. I kept kicking myself in the butt and...

Question about Live Rock and Coral

And orange! (coraline that is :D ) Live rock is my very favorite thing about saltwater. I mean, the fish are cool, and corals are really neat...but they usually look the same. Live rock changes so much, and things that you've never even heard of or seen grow out at the strangest times. I have...

puffer/koran/and mandarin goby can they live together?

Ehhh..I don't know. Damsels are too fast for puffers, if they cornered them or found them sleeping, I'm sure the puffer would eat it. They're nocturnal, so they have an advantage. The mandarin however untasty it is for most fish..puffers don't typically care about taste. It's bulk food that...
