    Angel twitching

I have decided to try and rescue the life of a red sea juvinile regal angelfish. Out of a total of 6 fish, this was the only one not sold. It was swimming awkwardly (on its side) and not eating anything. I felt that it would be worth it to save the life of this fish, and for only $9.99...

    Need to vent

Last Friday, after waiting almost three months for one, I finally picked up one of the healthiest red sea regal angelfish I've seen. He was around 2 1/2" long, had extremely nice coloration, and was very healthy. Literally, after seconds of being added to the tank, he was nipping at the rockwork...

Beth -- need a quick answer on damaged fish

I recently purchased an extremely healthy regal angelfish, which was in perfect shape and and even consuming flake food after a few minutes of being introduced to my tank. I found him this morning stuck onto the intake of a Amp Master 3000 (used for closed loop). The fish was likely there for a...

Showing off blue with red skirt zoanthids

A week ago I recieved five polyps of these zoanthids. I personally dislike zoanthids due to their ability to quickly take over the rockwork and sting the bases of various SPS corals, although these immediatly cought my eye. Just showing off :) Graham

I was playing around with the camera while the lights were off on the aquarium and I found some interesting shots. To start, I found this quite humorous. At least 15 hermit crabs were piled upon this A. micropthalma:

    New Addition: P. eydouxi

After seeing a jaw dropping P. eydouxi in Eric Borneman's book, I started looking around for a specimen with good coloration and good shape. Well, almost a year later I came across an extremely fantastic P. eydouxi with good coloration. I couldn't pass this up. Unfortunately, It does have two...

The 150 is up and running!

Over the past several days I've been extremely busy putting the tank together. Sure enough, Murphy's law of "Whatever can go wrong, Will go wrong" never fails me. Problem after problem, Leak after leak, and one new electrical fuse later I finally have the tank setup and running. I currently have...

    Southern California fragswap: All welcome

Dave Botwin is nice enough to host his 5th Southern California fragswap in Encino. This is going to take place Saturday, April 3rd. At the last swap there was more than 150 people who attended. There were also quite a few people who came from Northern California and San Diego to join the...

    Upgrading my tank

Well, the time has finally come to upgrade my aquarium. I've simply ran out of room for everything I plan on buying. I've just bought Pierce's 150 gallon reef (http://amazingreef.com/). For $1,000.00 I get the tank, 350lbs of livesand, 250lbs of rock, the stand and the canopy. I've just recieved...

    Electical Currents and Corals

Recently I attached a 30 gallon refugium to my 90 gallon sump. After finally picking up some chaetomorpha from Dave B., I went to homedepot to buy a 60wt 3,300k Halide. I set it up, and all went well for the first few days. I then come home one night to find the ballast and bulb in the sump. The...
