I would put the other 2" of southdown sand rite on top of the live sand and when you put the L.R. in it will seed the s.d. sand and the bottom sand will work up ward to help as for the carbon i don't know bout that ......

Just came back from e-bay i found a 72" reflector with triple 400 watt M.H. bulbs would this work with my 6' long tank with hinged glass on the top of tank ?????and wat else would i nee for lighting 20" deep tank??? Thanks:)

I have just taken CC out of my 125g and replacing it with 3" of south down and 1" of ls i don't really care for the sand 4" up on my glass i hope when the sand gets time on it, the ls on the glass wiil not turn disqusting looking, or will it. I know this is an diff ques.sorry

On my 125g i do 10g water change a month so about 10% of your tank.

I was doing away with the UGF and going with sand how longshould i wait before i take the wispers off and let the sand take over ,andi have an skimmer to put back on have to repair it.......

Taking cc out and replacing with south down sand i've already taking 3/4 of the UGF out and the CC i left one section of the UGF hooked up to the wisper filter and the second wisper is just filtering the water and the CC is on that plate, put 2 bags of sand in already and ready to put live sand...
