wow--what a mess

i know you guys know what your doing but you have an aweful "lot" of elbows and shut off valves on the outflow- i hope you have adequate flow in your tank, esp thru the closed loop portion. Did you ever consider the smaller vortechs? sure cuts down on all those SQWDs and elbows
i suspect you'll have fine flow for scorpionfish, but alot of your head pressure and performance will be lost thru your plumbing. Just make sure you water test and power off test the system.

We're trying to avoid having "anything" in the tank. These pumps should be plenty, if not we'll replace them. The chiller may need to come off and the plumbing is such to that we can do that easily. We're definitely shut off valve people... I want to be able to get my equipment off for easy maintenance.
The 2 drain hoses have been shipped and then the wet test will occur when they arrive.... this will be tank number 12. Let the buckhead cussing commence.

GFCIs to be installed next.

I love shutoffs too!! The only question I have for you is in the non-closed loop section did you put any backflow restrictors on? incase the power goes out or whatnot? Ours goes out quite a bit here and its one thing i will def. do on my next tank.(and a generator TOO)

Nope, because I don't want to rely on a check valve to keep my tank from flooding. With the power off you fill your DT with water so that it flows into the sump. You keep going until the sump is as full as you want it to be (I usually mark that just for fun and call it the fill point). Then when you turn the tank on you mark the water level it drops to and never top up over that point. That way, if there is a power outage, the DT will only drain into the sump up to the "fill point".
I have a generator for my tanks.... I moved from hurricane country into earthquake country.

The tank stuff is here.... the water test is next.
The skimmer won't be moved until the volitan is ready to be moved because it's on his current tank.
There's lots of things to be done to the tank, like lighting, the reefkeeper etc etc, but that can be done as the tank is cycling.
Now I'm watching videos on how to smoothly bend conduit pipe.... I wonder how many pieces of pipe it will take until I get it right?

Awwwww, for every successful project I've accomplished, there's 10 unsuccessful attempts in the closest I've learned by.
That's sweet of you to say, but it's honestly a matter of learning from past mistakes.

Hey cranberry! how often do you feed your lions? I got my first one last sunday and I've been trying to feed him every day. He seems to only want to eat one krill every other day though. Is this normal or should I try feeding him more or less?

oh yeah! that's ok. I figured out that he wont eat it if it has garlic on it! I've been feeding him one krill everyday though. Maybe that's too much?

Do not feed your lion a sole diet of krill. It has been associated with lockjaw and other ailments in fish.
