Well it's day 11 of cycling, I am a little surprised by my #'s
Ammonia at 0...peaked at 1.0
Nitrite at 0ish...peaked just under 1.0
Nitrates have stayed at 0
PH steady at 8.4
Could my live sand and live rock really be cycling that fast?? I threw a shrimp in for 4 days to start it, and have thrown in flakes a couple times.
Any thoughts?
Well, I have seen it like this as well. I think that you are in for one more spike of ammonia.
I would say you are almost there. Sit tight and see what happens this week. If there is no spike then you could start adding a fish or 2.

Copy that...As I told you CC, small issue with the UV anyway, so I plan to wait on that regardless....I would really love to pull the "trigger" (no pun intended) on the Hawaiian Black Trig SWF still has in stock

Must be patient

I'm kind of surprised that nitrates haven't shown up at all. IME, even with the best biological filtration, there always seems to be some nitrate activity. The "bugs" that convert it to nitrogen seem to be the last to appear. Nitrate test kits are notoriously unreliable; but with your fish only tank; I don't think it matters much; certainly not now. The nitrite has to go somewhere. I hope some of the real water chemistry experts chime in on weather to expect more nitrite then nitrate before adding fish...but from where I sit, things seem to be going extremely well. BTW, if the Sohal goes after a new fish down the road, QT him for a while and let him cool his jets, worked for me a couple of times. (After I learned the hard way)

I know your pain right now. I bet you that the fish will be there in 1-2 weeks.

kjr, can't wait to see it stocked. Unfortunately my old oscar died this week, while I am not happy, it does leave my 75 empty and I am moving ahead with making it an undy tank. I will start building the sump in the next week or two.

Kirk did you get a Bluethroat?
I'm afraid I am a little guilty of impulse shopping
. I went to the LFS with the intention of getting the Male and Female Bluethroat they had just received, however 2 issues I had....One they were a little bigger than I wanted at over 6+ inches each....Also the girl had been "roughed up" a little by a Niger that was moved out, her tail looked terrible and she just didn't look happy....A Banana/Sunset Wrasse has been in and out of my stocklist desires, they had juvi 3 inch that had been there since January 5...Probably not the best idea having a wrasse in so early, but with the "bruisers" I have coming later (Emperor, Porky Puffer, and Sohal), I highly doubt he will end up the "alpha" fish in the tank.
CC, they had a M & F Crosshatch (8 inch) for $400.....I was tempted, but refrained.
The Wrasse is very acclimated and happy to be out of his 25 gallon home of the last 2+ monthes....Here he is.

$400 for both???? Oh MAN!!! Go for it! I want to get "Scrape" (my daughter named my crosshatch because of his "scrapes" of blue on his face) a female companion but cant find one for less than $200.
For that price you should DEFINITELY get the pair.
Otherwise, I was at my LFS this weekend and they had a 8" male bluethroat that looked unreal. So eather way you are styling.
BTW...I like the banana wrasse. It is a great addition. I think that you will be very happy with him.

That puffer was amazing to say the least . Sarah was in awe of it and is totaly in favor of a large preditor tank in the future .
