415 Gallon Plywood Tank Build

Here is a closeup shot of the bulkhead hole poured with epoxy.....Gives you an idea on all the tedious little things. All these holes need is a little sanding to clean up the edges.....Excuse all the mess around....the sander cleans up any excess rather quickly.....

This is a shot of a PVC fitting epoxied into place in the front of the tank....Again either OceansMotions revs or Omni nozzles will be used here to direct water flow. I chose to glue these into place, so I could easily swap out the end pieces since the threaded ends are all the same size between the revs and omni nozzles.....I will have to post a pic of the revs and omni nozzles......

This is a pic of the OceansMotions rev.....At the top of the fixture you can see the threaded end......This will thread easily into the PVC fittings I have already put into place......How these work is when water pressure is applied to them via a pump they drop down (the nozzle portion) and spray water.....When water pressure is taken away from them the get sucked back upward......Upon water pressure being applied again to them as they drop down they will rotate or index a bit; moving the nozzles to a different location redirecting water flow.....This process is repeated over and over again. The nice thing is everything is made with PVC and no parts to go bad more or less.
These are also revs, but they are built upside down.......These are what I'm considering using on the bottom of the tank to provide upward flow and also hidden underneath the rock structure to keep the bottom of the tank clean and detrius in the water column.....Corey this is another reason I was pushing more towards sand embedded in epoxy.........

Here a a couple pics of the Omni nozzles I am referring to.......The standard ones are 1 1/2" which I'm thinking of using on the return lines from the sump, and the others could be used on the bottom of the tank. An alternative to the Loc line hose I guess.....

Josh didn't get a chance to call the TR people.... The information I posted was about the new meanwells that are due out. I was asking your thoughts/opinion/expertise on parallel wiring LEDs!!!!

I believe the parallel wiring has to do with the watts put out.
Each string of LEDs need 3.3-3.5W.
If you have a 7W output you can do 2 strings I believe.
I'm not 110% on this..... Someone post if you know for sure.

Interesting thing on those new drivers, sounds like they have 3 modes of dimming capability, 1-10v, PWM and Resistor...that's pretty cool.
Wiring them in parallel seems to be just as easy. Would probably be best to utilize some terminal bars and run fuses and resistors before each string. That way if you have a short then you're only replacing some cheap fuses instead of all your leds.

From datasheet:
Cree® XLamp® XR-E LED
Forward Voltage (@ 350 mA) V 3.3
Forward Voltage (@ 700 mA) V 3.5
Forward Voltage (@ 1000 mA) V 3.7

Yeah 3.5 IMO the best. The drivers look very promising. I will be back in contact with the guy in 2 weeks and keep you updated on them. I think the fuses are almost a must to protect the investment.
On another topic which return nozzles do you guys prefer? Hopefully the bulkheads will start to arrive today!!!!

Got the first load of bulkheads in from Savko today.....Quick shipping from those guys as usual......
Got a chance to call my buddy at Hi Tech Metals today, and he has 1/4" thick "U" or "C" channel whatever you want to call it for a decent price.....He told me he actually has some 8" wide laying around....might have to play hooky 1 day this coming week to check it out....Corey going this route would be a heck of a lot cheaper than heat sinks.....

Thanks Corey!!!!! Now just need to decide on color to have it painted!!!!
No progress on the tank this weekend. Helped the brother-in-law put down hardwood flooring and sister move into née office, then spent Saturday night into Sunday with my mom in the hospital..... Need a vacation with no cell phones!!!

I hear that. I'm so burnt out right now it isn't funny.
I've always been partial to silver, black and chrome, myself.

I like the black and silver and lots of chrome...I do like the subtle purple underlay they used before hand as well!!!!

Ok!!!! Back to tank talk. Played hooky today, and went out to see the local metal guy I had called about the 4" "C" channel. He sai he ha some left over 8" as well, so I paid him a visit this morning and after talking he showed me some cut offs left from a order. The pieces are 1/4" thick, 10"W x 44"L. I picked up 2 pieces today for $48.00. Not bad for digging around the scrap pile. Will post pics later today!!!
