Oh, I think it's because it's integradeable with the SOL's and the Nano's which do have 3 colors when it comes to the blue units. And leaves room for future upgrades on the Phoenix. Interesting.

Been working and just got back to this thread...
I understand what your saying about utilizing your CL's for flow, I guess what I was seeing is all the different versions you posted and I was getting lost on how many you were going to use. I still have to remember your not just building a 100 to 150 gallon tank here.. hahaha!!!
The rev's look pretty cool, you'll have to get a video of your flow when your setting it up. I'm still stuck in small tank land with my 120 so I guess thats why I thought you might be overdoing it...

Just got back to this thread after some computer failure. Will read the 75 posts I missed later.
I just read about the LEDs and It seems im out of the loop so I will be doing some more LED research on the AIs and the X-MLs.
Pictures Shawn? And I am happy to say my 18g Cube is finally done and cycled, and got a two spot goby yesterday and is happy
in his spacious home. New build thread coming shortly.

I wondered what happened to you Josh!!!!! No pics as we speak other than the last ones I posted awhile ago. The way I feel today not even sure I'm going to make it to work tomorrow or not.....I usually don't miss work, but just totally beat, and body beat up as well.
This weekend was a very fast paced and productive weekend.....I got home Friday night and immediately began working on the tank in preparation for the guys coming over Sunday morning to help get the tank on the stand....Worked Friday night till 3am and back up at 6am and went back to sanding and buffing all the edges on the tank.....Figured it would be easier to do it while the tank was down on the floor instead of having to work around things while up on the stand.......Needless to say it takes quite a while to buff the edges out to my satisfaction.....
Tried muscling the tank around myself last night and really jacked up my left forearm......It's all black and blue. Tank was standing on long end and wanted to lay it flat and tired and being stupid figured I could man handle the tank down.....
Needless to say the tank did make it down in 1 piece, because I was bound that I'd dive under it before I dropped it......I do think my middle finger is broke, but I think that was done awhile ago working the tank, and never had it looked at, but yesterday really aggravated it........
I do have to say special thanks to my buddies for always putting up with my crazy tank moves and lifts, and the super early mornings.......I had six guys come over at 8am to help since I figured I wouldn't be to much help with my arm and finger all banged up......They lifted the tank on the handmade cart and we wheeled it over to the stand, and I put PVC pipes on the stand so when the tank was started on the stand it would roll across the PVC pipe, and not dig into the foam underneath the tank. I used 1/2" foam underneath the tank.....
The tank made it safely into place and still have to trim 2 areas of the euro bracing, so I can cut the euro bracing for the overflow box, and glue into place....That won't take long to do at all. I did start unmasking the tank this evening, and I'm very pleased.......Actually super excited.....I noticed a few spots on the edges that I want to go back and dress up, but it shouldn't be a super big issue.....I have to say the micro mesh was well worth the money spent.......The buffing was done solely with water and micro mesh starting with 1500 grit sandpaper all the way to 12000 grit....No Novus polish used at all......

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get it cleaned up a bit, and finish getting it unmasked and shoot some good pics.....My wife is rather happy as well....She'll finally get her family room back!!!!!!

The only 1 that will get inside the tank is my 3yr old grand daughter.....She asked me if she could sleep in it......
She wasn't happy when her mommy made her get out though.....

Really nice edge buddy - did you get it drilled out for CL and returns. Are there any more drawing that you need?

Thanks Al!!!! No holes drilled as of yet. Next step is to water/leak test it and the once that check out will begin laying out hole placement. Still have to fabricate eurobracing. The template is already cut, just née to get in the garage and actually cut the piece.

Thanks.....I haven't taken any pics as of yet.....
Just to let everyone know; Corey got the phone call as soon as it started, but currently I'm pumping water to the new tank......
So far so good......I had been pissy all day waiting to get home to start filling and leak testing.........I was busy talking to Corey on the phone, and thought I had shut the hose off to the tank, and went out to the garage, and when I came back down stairs to my surprise the tank was quite a bit fuller than when I had left and thought I had shut it off......Right now I have roughly 9"-10" of water.....I'm going to take it in steps. 1 if there is an issue it will be easier to spot where it might be, and the other is so I can take measurements along the way......I'm taking measurements on the tank to see if there is any deflection in the tank.....I shouldn't get any if much at all, but with filling it in steps it will be measurable at which point it starts.....Remember this tank has no cross bracing just extra wide euro bracing, so it's vital.........
Hopefully my computer will cooperate and I'll get some pics taken and posted shortly......

Shawn it looks incredible - I could see my reflection on the joints, LOL - man I can't wait to see this finished - I bet you can't either. One of the SW magazines I bought today, can't remember the name they build a rock structure with PVC pipe holding it all together, made me think of your tank and the CL you are building, just a thought buddy.

Thanks Al.......That was just a quick pass using the micro mesh paper......Honestly I did a little more than a quick pass, wanted to get the major work out of the way before it was on the stand, but wasn't exactly sure how aggressive I could be while sanding and such, and after I unmasked the tank completely I did notice a few areas, but nothing major or anything probably the average person would even notice standing in front of it.....I'm really anal and just as any of us would be we would be scrutinizing every last joint and detail.......So once the leak test is complete I have already picked up and order more micro mesh to address the areas that are bothering me.......The marks are probably a 1/16" of an inch, but I want the seams invisible basically.......
I did somehow manage to get a "pea size" spot on the far left corner edge....but upon further inspection I'm going to do a little experimenting in the garage and I'm pretty sure I can buff the mark out without much trouble......Again most probably wouldn't even notice or care, but I know it's there.......
My buddies over at the acrylic shop were starting to worry/wonder about me, because I hadn't given them any feedback or calls as of lately, and finally called them today for some goodies......
Al on the subject of LR.....That was exactly my plan of suspending the LR off the bottom of the tank to aid in the flow of the CL and to not allow any detritus to settle underneath.....I had bought some fiberglass rod a long time ago in the anticipation of drilling and pinning my LR together, but I might break down and get clear acrylic rod for the job......Both would work though.....I've been tossing around the idea from early on about using a faux sand bed.......I like the sand look, but don't want the hassle or headache of sand being blown all over the place, and it would in this case IMHO......Hopefully my buddies will call tomorrow to give me some idea on cost for the starboard material for the bottom sand bed......

SOunds good my friend, you are a perfectionist and I admire that, not to hijack your thread (famous for that) I bought two used 110 gallon tanks - one of them is going to be my new FW planted tank - I have noticed a few scratches in the glass, what can I do to get them out. I would love to set one of these tanks for a reef but I can't do the lights and live rock for this size right now, I am really happy with my 65 and 40 breeder If I ever move I am going to set up a large SW set up - 200 plus gallons

Al I don't have the slightest idea about buffing polishing glass.....I'll have to goggle or better yet I can get a hold of a buddy of mine that has his own glass business......

That looks incredible shawn, wanna trade? 18g cube fully loaded (lr, 3 hermits, and a two spot goby) for it? ill pay shipping

I hope no joints go astray but it doesn't look like it from the video you posted. Do you have a fish list yet? I recommend a niger trigger and melanurus wrasse.

Hey Josh!!!! Really haven't thought much on a stock list. Niger Trigger is always in the mix in my tanks....Would actually like a pair of Cross Hatch Trigger. I'm a tang fan so of course will be plenty of tangs. Achilles is tip of the list and I available would love another black tang. Never really looked at wrasses though.
