Cortez Rays live in warmer water although they are in the same family and grow alittle larger but I will do some research on their temp range

Hey Dean1956, whats the smallest species of ray out there and how big do they get?
As far as I know the Cal. Rd. Rays is the smaller of the Stingray family. There is a Ray out there called "Tea Cup" and when you see it in the LFS it is tiny, but it really is under a different name and actually grow quite large, so don't be fooled.

How big in diameter do the Cal. Rd. Rays get?

Dang, that's not that big at all... How big of a pool do they need for 1 or 2? Male and maybe a female?

smalltriggers,
post #89, dean mentions how long will it take to get warm to help the salt mix.

Dean1956,
Are you using the homemade salt??
Things are looking good. Keep up the nice work. I once worked next door to a stair parts store. Watching those guys make the curved railings on nothing more then a pencile mark on the wall next to the last dozen jobs that were still marked on the wall, I was amazed how they got it right. Really cool to watch them make that stuff. A mix of skill and trible knowledge, and lots of dust.

We (my grandson and I ) are grinding up the salts as I type and going to mix 25 gallons worth and go from there.I have figured out all the cost per gram of the chemicals and it looks to be costing roughly 2 dollars per 25 gallons plus the trace elements and strontium chloride if I even need that for a Ray setup.

so is all equipment set up?
are you cycling the pool now?
what type of skimmer are you using?
thanks
No cycle, transfered live rock into sump and live sand into the pool and someone local gave me 150lbs more live sand. No skimmer yet. Up and running 10 days and my female adult Ray is lovin it!
