after further investigation into my missing clownfish, I discovered the peppermint shrimp hanging out in my clownfish's favorite sleeping spot. I think that they two peppermint shrimp, that are a little bigger than the clown was, went all homicidal on my clownfish. They must have just gotten hungry and tired of eating the scraps.
I hate those stupid shrimp!

your right about that! the only reason those pepp shrimp are still in my tank is because I can't catch them! I only put them in there to eat some aptasia, and now they are just a nusience.
My fireshrimp has actually been a model citizen so far. He even tried to help save my mimic tang when he got ich. And he's even buddies with my surpent star, they are never very far apart!

No I still have no clue what happened to my mandarin goby. She died this morning after her color faded and she basically stopped eating. I only heard one suggestion that it was bacterial. I'm just going to chalk it up to being inexperienced and the tank being relatively new at 4 or 5 months. We will be waiting quite a long time before we get another fish. So far I've lost my mimic tang (ich), my baby clown (mysterious dissaperance), and my mandarin goby (just died) all in 2 weeks. I'm pretty dissheartened by this whole experience. My water even tests perfectly!
I just dont have the money I need to keep my tank the way I want. Everything involves me waiting and saving just to get fishfood and such. My whole tank is set up pretty ghetto fabulous with missmatched parts and a modified salt bucket as a refuge in the sump. I can't keep my favorite fish alive and that stupid red slime algae is back.

Here are a few update pictures. I know I know all I do is update with a few pictures. I always have a few questions but rarely does anybody answer them. I will continue to try though. So.... here it goes!
I dont have a clue what this purple fuzzy coral is. I think it's SPS of some kind but the polyps are kinda long looking. I will post this question in the proper forum but if you guys know what it's called I would appreciate knowing too. It's showing amazing growth. I stuck it in a hole where it attached itself and can't be moved. It's horizontal and all the growth is vertical which is really cool. It's kinda hard to see in the photos because they are two-dementional but all the vertical fingers are new growth. It's even started growing a whole new finger near the base of the original piece.
more to come. I'm separating each post with the relevant pictures to eleminate confusion.

These pictures are of the acro and green monti that I aquired from the vp of my reef club. I dont know what kind of acro this is. It has purple tips and is a reddish brown. It's doing surprisingly well under my t5 and PC set up. The green monti has shown significant growth for me. There is a little more than 1/2 inch in growth all around. I'm super proud of my sps! yippy! Again if anybody knows what kind of acro that is I would appreciate knowing as well!

And now for the frags from nissan! The first are the magicians? right nissan? They are looking great as are the Kedd reds which are the second picture. I'm super happy with them! The blue tubbs sadly got knocked hard enough by somebody in the tank to break the glue and it between the rocks. I finnaly found it and some of the polyps survived the ordeal. I'm confident that they will come back to their original glory for me. I'm very sad about it though.

You recognize my bubble coral which is still growing to massive proportions! Pic is just for you meowzer! lol

The elegance has actually shown me some growth also. I glued this coral into a hole in the rock before I knew what it was though. I know it's supposed to be in the sand. Do you guys think it will be ok on the rock? Concidering its growing well, and perfectly healthy right now?
My last picture is my hammer coral. It's growing fast. I need to get more rocks so I can finnish my rockscape. That way I can finnaly put all my corals on the rocks. Thanks for looking guys! If you guys know the answer to any of my questions please feel free to tell me!

LOL...maybe I'm blind....I don't see anything purple and fuzzy
well, it's the coral to the left of the bubble. It's only purple when they polyps are retracted.
But it looks all fuzzy to me. I guess it's just some wierd dull color when the polyps are extended. I like it because it was free and it adds texture to the tank. So.... what is it?

This is an early picture of it standing straight up. Its easier to see the structure of it. It's like fingers with long polyps that are all over it making it look fuzzy. When they retract fully it looks like a very smooth, purple finger or something.

I have that? It is a non photosynthetic gorgonian. They grow pretty fast.
The one above your bubble coral is a hydnophora. FYI, your camera does'nt even come close to showing the colors you are describing.

yeah, I ended up finding quite a bit of info on the corky finger. I'm not very good at working the technical stuff on my camera. I'm good at getting crisp shots but not with adjusting white ballance or anything like that. I cant even figure out how to use the macro setting on my camera. Though the reason I described it is because the pics didn't show the colors very well. The finger part of the coral is purple and the polyps are a tanish color. Anyway thanks for the info!
