So, I'm super excited that I have my rodi hooked up and running. Now you know how everybody talks about a "spill" involving their rodi? Well, I've heard these and prommised myself that I would watch and pay attention to mine. So, of course last night I had a spill while I was running my washing machine. I filled up the washer with the "waste" water and ran it, while having the "waste" water run into a 5 gallon jug. The jug overflowed and went all over the floor! Anyway! I'm hoping this rodi will solve my red slime algea problem. Wish me luck!

Alrighty! I am now officially not ashamed of my tank anymore! It looks a little empty as far as corals go, but that's because I traded 6 of them for 65lbs of rock. I think I got most of the rock I need. I will add some more really nice live rock to the scape as money allows. But! For now I have an aquascape that actually fills the entire length of the tank, and has tons of ins and outs and a large cave on the right side! Woo hoo! I will have to work on getting more corals but that can wait for a while. Enjoy the pics!
ps. Muffy is hiding. he didn't like the massive water change I did right before the pictures.

you have redslime like crazy!

oh no! I dont have it like crazy, I'm PLAGUED by it!!!

I took alot out by hand today and did a massive water change. I'm hoping that I can just battle it out. I'm thinking that my old water source was the issue, so I bought an RODI, and I'm hoping that will fix this problem quickly!

that's my plan. now that I have the ability to do it right! I'm also thinking of getting like 20 large hermit crabs to help the sand bed out a little and a few more nass snails

I hate hermit crabs...get nassarius, and cerith snails....
your tank is a 90G??? Get a fighting conch....these will stir your sand....BUT you have to find the source of your problem to really fix it....
flow, foods, light......glad to hear you got the ro/di unit.....that will help too
remember...stuff may munch on stuff....but if you do not correct the source...well need I go on

yeah. I know. I'm thinking that it was my water source that was giving me fosphates. At leaste when i had it tested they were showing up. So, if my rodi doesn't take care of it, then I will look at the other issues that may cause it.
I am getting a zebra eel and already have a lion. So, I have to be carefull about who I employ in my CUC. I HATE hermits also, but I know they will be fairly safe in my tank. I'm deffinately getting more of those snails. I think some of my original 20 of each didn't make it. I'll get 20 more.

I was bored and took alot of pictures! I have one that you can see my xenia attaching itself onto a neighboring rock. It's very scary that it may invade my entire tank. lol!
1st. cactus coral (so i was told)
2nd. green zoas. (what are the white things under that disk they are on?)
3rd. hammer coral
4th. Muffy (short for muffasa, sorry the pic is alittle blurry, he never stops moving)
5th. Pulsing Xenia (you can see that it is attaching to that rock it's leaning on)

Your tank is coming along just fine, just wish I could move as fast as you.
For the redslime issue just make sure you have enough flow in the tank.

thanks blue ring. I have tons of flow. I actually had to remove one power head leaving me with two large ones because it was way too much flow with three. I'm still working out the kinks in their direction, but I'm pretty sure I've enough.

Well, today is a weird day for me. I'm not sure if I should be sad or happy about this. I have to combine my nano with my 90 (happy) but this means that I can't have my eel (sad) until much much later.
So, today I moved my bubble coral (a complete fiasco), my clown fish, birdsnest and a peppermint shrimp. My lion was very shocked to see a live shrimp and he didn't seem to know what to do. He just watched it very closely until it made refuge in the rocks. (Hilarious!!) The bubble coral got poked by the birdsnest during acclimation and is being very grouchy right now. I'm hoping that it will pull through. I was really scared of the weight of the "meat" ripping it from the skeleton. So far so good I guess.
Tomorrow I plan on moving over the only two rocks without a coral on them and if I can catch him the scooter blenny and the other peppermint shrimp. I'm putting them in first to make sure the lion cant catch the blood shrimp before it gets to hide. I guess its an experiment or sorts.
My clown fish is soooo tiny, he looks lost in this huge tank!
Pics to come tomorrow. The nano thread is being killed by me.

So far the bubble looks like it is getting better. He is still pretty stressed out but is looking a little more normal. The bubbles are just really small and dark. But he isn't all shrunk and sickly so I'm thinking that maybe tomorow he will look alot better. (crosses her fingers and knocks on wood)
