really? I thought it was pretty. I got it on a frag from my club president of all people! It looks like a fern leaf but grows really fast! I tore alot off of it when i moved it into the big tank and its already grown back. I guess I need to do something with it.

thankyou! I will need it to declare war! My war with the red slime is still going, but I think I have the upper hand. This war will really be taxing my citizens. Well, maybe just me. oh well, thanks!

Ok! So.... This is just a picture of why xenias are concidered a "weed" coral. They can move and they spread and over take your tank. If you look carefully there is 3 stalks that have moved up onto the neighboring rock on the right. You can even see one of them still holding on a little to the rock on the left. This is ok for me because I'm going to sell the remaining 3 stalks on the rock on the left. I started with 4 very small stalks about 6 months ago and now they are HUGE and climbing and there is 6 of them!

my green zoas got melted! This totally sucks because I saw the torch coral getting bigger and extending it's reach that direction and thought to myself " I'll just wait and figure out where I want to move it." Then this morning the two new zoas that were growing in got stung and melted. I'm really sad because they are my favorite right now. Well, I moved the torch over temporarily. I need to figure out a better place for it.
I'll have new favorites soon. My "nephew" is sending me two new zoas. I'm expecting them this week. (i'm pretty sure you all know who i'm talking about, at leaste meowzer, kat and nissan do
) look for new pics when they come in!

you got me second guessing. Cant a torch sting other corals? I have before and after pics. tell me what you think please.
1st pic: you can see the two baby zoas coming in under the big ones.
2nd pic: you can see that the two baby zoas have now melted into a terrible glob.
Do you guys think this could have been caused by my torch?

well, now that I really look at the picture..... one of them could be just closed up, but it really looks like they melted. I will just keep a close eye on them for the next day or two. maybe by the time my new zoas come in I will look better.
Have you ever heard of a torch causing that kind of dammage? I think I heard of somebody on reefcentral getting stung by his torch and layers of skin coming off later. It was MUCH larger than mine though. hmmm. maybe that was a hammer coral. I have one of those too though. I'm thinking that some serious re-arranging is in store for me.

Well, I went ahead and moved the torch. It's just laying down in a crevice in the rocks where it's away from all the others. I love my LPS's but they sure do cause problems when they start growing. I'm learning alot of hard lessons as I go along here.
A small update: I made a frag rack and two lids that sit flush with the top of my tank. I didn't take pictures of the lids because I dont like they way they reflect light out of the tank. I only made them just incase I need them someday, and because I had to pay for the whole 4x3 sheet of eggcrate. (get my moneys worth) I'm sure one day I will have the need for them.
Alot of people use their magfloats to make a frag rack out of, especially if it's going in their DT. I bought some $2 suction cups that are totally plastic and that lock into place to secure my rack. I didn't like the idea of attaching my frags to a magnet that has a hard time holding itself together on my thick glass. I think it will work out great, the suction cups are easily unlocked and removed if I need to, and can not be moved unless they are unlocked. It's very doubtful that a large snail is going to be able to mess with my rack!
Tell me what ya think!

oh yeah... I know my frags look a little bad in the pictures, but that's because my kenya trees dont like it when I mess with them. They are just pouting!

Looks like it can work.....good idea
thank you! I didn't understand why or how people attach theirs to a magfloat. I just dont think its stable like that. I guess they just want to be able to move it without sticking their hands in the water.

I use a Kodak EasyShare P850. I dont ever use a flash when taking pics of my tank. I usually take like 12 of all my livestock and just keep deleting them until I get a good one. Trial and error. I dont have a tripod either, I just brace my hand against the glass and take my time to let it focus. I'm still trying to figure out how to use the macro function. My camera isn't like others that you just have to push the macro button and shoot. Good luck with your pictures!
