I'm loving your set up, specially the PVC pipe. I had a Dwarf Lion Fish before and they are lots of fun. Mines took almost two weeks to stop being shy.

Thanks alot! My lion is an antenna lion. he wont be small for long. I feed him everyday right now. Alot of people think I'm wierd for the pvc pipe in the tank. I guess I'll need to get my eel soon so they will understand better. My lion is still pretty shy except at feeding time. at night he comes out alot though. I need to get some moon lights on there so I can watch him more.

Well! It finnaly happened! My tank freaked out and my sump overflowed! AARRGG!
While doing some maintence on the prefilter of the overflow box, all of a sudden the overflow dumped a TON of water in to the entirely too small sump and overflowed that stupuid little thing!

Of course I grabbed the camera and snapped a few pics for those of you who are like me and enjoy something funny like this. (when it happens to someone else of course)
I had already got a larger 35 gal container to use as a new sump but was waiting until I had the materials needed to create my center fuge. Well, obviously I couldn't wait any longer so I just rigged it up the best I could for now. I have a plastic jug in there with a ton of whole drilled in it with the overflow dumping directly inside of it. This container has my cheato in it. I couldn't let the cheato float around in there just to clog up my pump. So for now this will have to work. Enjoy my pics!

yikes is an understatement. On the bright side I ended up upgrading my sump like I should have a long time ago. and none of my livestock got hurt or even knew what happened.
I just wasn't sure what to say...LOL....so no damage to the floor then????

oh no! plenty of damage to the floor. The bottom of the stand is bowed in and the water all leaked under the stand. On carpet! So, I wont be getting my deposit back from this appartment! But that's ok, I'd rather lose that then my fish and corals. I have a carpet cleaner that I used to suck up as much water as I could get to, but Im sure there is more under the stand. Oh well! All you can do at this point is laugh and say "lesson learned". Do upgrades before something bad happens!

I'm not too worried about it. We arn't moving again until we buy a house. By then I will have forgoten and i'll probably just cut the carpet out and replace that one spot. They wont notice until I have my deposit in hand and their cleaning crew comes in to replace it! You know they replace the carpet after every tenant anyway! so, no big deal. It was just really stressful. I just knew it was going to happen!

Yeah, everything but the carpet survived! I only have one of those small airstone skimmers that dont really do much. So it wasn't it's fault. We were having problems with the return pump being too big and not having a way to throttle it back, so we put an extra tube in the overflow to suck down twice the amount of water. Well, this was stupid b/c when I took out the prefilter to clean it (b/c the water level was almost over the middle brace) the water just started dumping into the sump waaaayyy faster than it was supposed to! So, really it was my fault for not putting in a bigger, more appropriate, sump like I was told to do a long time ago. Now, with the bigger sump the water level is where it is supposed to be in both! So, I'm happy. It worked out for the best!

ok! well, after 4 days of refusing every kind of food I put infront of him Muffy (muffasa) finnaly ate! He didn't eat much, but he finnaly ate a krill head. Honestly he has been a model fish, but then he started acting up on me. I went and bought some table shrimp and cut them to size so he would be able to swallow them. He took those for two days then decided he wasn't hungry for 4 days! I went and bought a package of squid, octopus, shrimp and scallops (all raw) and tried to tempt him with those! All of them he went after like he was going to gobble them up but then stopped, looked at it, then turned away! Aggrivating! I did the rutine today and he finnaly went after a krill head but refused any more food from me.
On a positive note I'm getting an RODI unit tomorow for $80! A fellow reefer is getting out of the hobby and is selling it with brand new filter cartriges already on it! I'm super excited! No more hauling water around town! thank goodness! I'm going to rig it up above the washer and let the "waste" water drip into it! i dont believe in wasting!
