so your tank is done cycling?
Make sure you keep an eye on your levels, as you added 4 fish at once. This could cause a mini-cycle. You should really only ad 1 fish at a time, once per every 2-4 weeks...
But, congrats!!! isn't it exciting???

Ya I know. I picked out the angel, clown, and shrimp. I figured that would be my max. My husband got the two damsels after he got off work and said "Here are more fish for you." I didn't want to be mean to him and say anything because again he is a tight wad with money and he realy thought he was doing something good.

The next thing I would like to start thinking about is some more inverts. I was thinking along the lines of some turbo snails, blue leg hermits, and a horseshoe crab looks cool! But I don't know much about the horseshoe? I think I might start on a crew like this in about a month or two. Does that sound ok?

I was reading up on them and they say they like shallow sand beds, and not alot of rock work and fish only tanks. That is what I got so I figured he might be ok.

they also get some ridiculous size, like 24" or something like that. And like snail said, they normally starve... i strongly suggest against it!

Ok. Thanks for the info!! I do have another question. Last night I decided to move my lr. I had it sitting against the glass so I moved it up so it wasn't touching and I noticed between two peices in a cave I had was this nasty black algae. Just in that one spot on one of the rocks forming the cave and not the other. What is it? Should I think about a clean up crew sooner than later or would that even help?

first we have to figure out what kind of algae it is. I've never had black algae, except for some bubble algae that was black, so i'm not quite sure what it is. Can you describe it more?

I couldn't get a realy good look at it but it wasn't "hairy" I guess you could say. It looked like it was flat against the rock. Kind of blotchy too. It wasn't in one big patch you could see part of the rock here and there. My flame angel hangs out in that particular cave and it dosn't seem to bother him but it was gross looking.
