flake food is ok, but they'll lose color. Don't you have a petsmart or ***** or petland or pet supplies plus near you? they should carry frozen foods...
we don't really talk much, but he seems to follow me around to other threads, so i read a lot of what he says... unfortunately.

Nope the closest pet anything around me is an hour drive. I live in corn field county lol.
My walmart, even, doesn't have but maybey 30 fish items and that is all fresh water.
The flake food I got sais it is suposed to contain krill, and shrimp stuff in it along with algae and color enhansers. Again I am a total newb and glad I found this sight to help!!
Oh and lol about snail!! He seems alright. Kind of brings fun in light of situations!!

Ya. That is about it except I am up down up down chasing them around.
Ok. I touched the nasty stuff on the rock and I guess you could describe it a suede feeling. And it is not black it is so deep red it looks black. I also have orange, pink, white, green, and brown. I also have this green algae that has bubbles in it. I also noticed after staring at this stuff till my eyes almost fell out that I have hitchhikers. I have this white flat round things that are about the size (round) of a pen. (Not the end you write with.) These microscopic "bugs" and this tiny tiny shell that is white with red spots on it and is a spiral. Do you know what any of them are?

algae grows in the dark, but not as fast as with the aid of lights. Definitely get some hermits to devour the algae. blue legs are cheap & will not stop until it is completely gone. Make sure you buy some empty shell or your crabs will fight.
Tank life will return to normal.

Thank you!!
I was looking at the hitchhiker identification and I found the bubble algae. Which doesn't look good :scared: The little bug is somekind of a pod. Now the shell I seen was the shape of that of the Whelk. Just with diferent coloring and way way smaller than a quarter. And The round things I can't find. The only thing that I can find that they resemble is a sand dollar. Just on a way smaller scale? Can this be?

it's just a fancy term for something that blocks larger particles/detritus, something like a foam block or a clothes that goes in before your other filtrations.

I have hang on the side filters. There are two filters in one container. The water has to flow through both of them before it can get back in the tank. They seem to catch everything!!! Does that help??

i think they are canister filters, if i'm not mistaken.
Are you running carbon in your filters? If not, i suggest running activated carbon in at least one of them... That should clear it up in no time.
