Wow, meow, didn't know you had a disaster. The new tank, though, is looking awesome.
I had put my reef tank on carpet and always regretted that. Could never get the tank level on carpet no matter how many shims I used and always worried that the off-kilter would cause problems down the road. Not t mention always getting water on the carpet around the tank.

Are you still considering the anthias? I would opt to feed them three times a day in small amounts. You would really have to keep up with the parameters. What about a trio of wrasses?

Yup 4 times a day at least
I mixed about 10 species of anthias
About 50-60 without issues except for the lyretail killing males by the dominant changing males
Barletts also do it in my smaller tank (32" cube)

The mandarin is going in the 180? You carried the old sand and such over?
I used most of the old rock.....and picked off a lot of the pods as I was cleaning and tossed them back in...LOL
If you use a feeder, then you have to feed pellets or flakes???? I do have a battery operated feeder I can set if that's the case (or buy a new one)

I guess it would depend on the feeder and what you opt to feed. I've never fed pellets so can't comment. Flakes can be used and there are people who have very elaborate feeders, but basic ones would work as well.

If you opt to get flake, I would go with a high quality flake food. Look up almost natural flake food by Ed. It is much better than your typical flake food. The feeder would be a great option.
