Shawn,
Well its the end of the weekend...I know you are working on the sump because of the post about a skimmer stand..I. need an update fix...I'm going crazy with anticipation..
Corey,
What is the plan for the hardware and your fantastic Gizmo? Are you going to ship it to me or to Shawn? Let me know so I can pay the shipping charge back to you.

I was thinking strait to you would be cheaper, if that's ok. I picked up the rest of your plumbing pieces yesterday...I'll try to get some pics of all of that a little later for ya.

Sounds great..yes, pictures with labels... LOL
If memory serves, and it doesn't always...but Shawn works horrible hours on the weekend and his work day starts at 4:00am so I don't expect to hear from him till much later after he has had a nap.

Sorry... Slacking no progress on the fuge as of yet. Have materials, but got sidetracked on my neighbors mini van which threw the timing belt so worked 4 am till 3 main job, did timing belt, since he's having major family issues, and the CDL training this morning from 8-2, then as I'm typing this working again main job. Tomorrow my only off day will make some headway!!!!! I'm keeping my garage door shut all day tomorrow so no interruptions!!!!!

SLACKING???? That's what you call helping a neighbor with his car all weekend?
Another case of the good guys spreading themselves to thin is what I see. I don't think it's right that spend your only day off on my refugium. I think you should take some time for yourself so you can recharge your batteries. I have gone over 30 years without a sump and waiting another weekend is not a problem. Why should you send every waking moment doing something for someone else, kiss your wife and kids and relax for a day.
Corey is going to send me the hardware he has for me. So I can occupy myself getting that stuff delivered here and gathering everything I need for when you get the refugium finished. I have hose to get, sand to order and I haven't found anyone who wants my goby yet. The LFS doesn't want him

So even if I had the sump in my hot little hands I wouldn't be ready to mess with it for another week or two anyway...I only have Saturday evenings, and Sundays to do major work on the tank.

Those pf you that have one two questions:
1. Do you just put phosban in it or do you some other media like seachem gel, etc. ?
2. What is the advantage to using this vs. putting the media in a media bag and dropping in your sump ?

I'm not sure what you are asking. I have no idea what seachem gel even is. It doesn't really help to put media in a sump in a bag because the phosban or other media like carbon needs to have water flow all around and through it to be of any use.

Seachem gel is Combination chemical filter media removes organics, phosphate, and more Helps maintain a clean, clear, and healthy aquarium environment Ideal chemical filter media for reef and marine aquariums Premium chemical filter media blend of Seachem's Matrix Carbon and PhosGuard. SeaGel quickly removes organics, phosphate, silicates, toxic metals, and acids from saltwater aquariums. Unique bead-shaped filter media allows optimum water flow for efficient removal of aquarium impurities
Do you run another other filter media, like carbon, or just the phosban in the reactor ?

LOL...OF = pf.. I am so not with it on text talk I thought it was something else I didn't know. I forgot about considering regular old typos.
I have never heard of sechem gel untl now, thatnks Slice and Keith .. it sounds like something great to run in a canister filter.

LOL..it's not text talk.....Keith made a typo
and GFO= Granular Ferric Oxide which is a phosphate remover....the letters GFO is a heck of a lot easier then typing all the other words out

Once again, even with an explanation I still don't know. I don't run a reactor, a word which by the way I always associated with nuclear. When it comes to typos, they look like text talk. It took me 10 minutes to figure out what WTF was, so you can't blame me for wondering what pf might mean.

Flower, I'm just about done with the plumbing stuff. Here's a sneak peak of things.

This piece comes apart and will be handy when you go to assemble the sections that attaches to the overflow. It unscrews pretty easy and it doesn't need to be superman tight when you tighten it back together. If you just snug it up then that's plenty to keep it from leaking and it will be pretty easy to unscrew later if you ever need to take it apart for cleaning.

And this is the top, the end will have to get glued into the bulkhead on the overflow. It'll be pretty easy.

Pretty soon I'll take some more precise measurements and do a finish cut on the hose that connects to the overflow. That way all you'll have to do is basically glue the one piece...and maybe cut the ends of the hoses going to the sump/fuge if you have to.

Fantastic!
I thought a hose connects to the overflow... with a barbed thingy.. It's late, I have to go to work, I can't go look now... but I will to get out the overflow tomorrow and see how it attaches. Looking at your pictures with what I have here will help allot.
Does it have to be glued...and if so what exact type of glue? How long to let it set before I can use it?
