We've come to far to let this little set back keep us from our goal. I talked with Shawn last night on the phone and God willing if he can at least get reimbursed back for the cost of materials and his shipping I know he's willing to build again. If not I told him I'll try to help out with what I can. I know times are kind of tight for alot of us especially with the holidays coming up. But if he can get it re-built then I'd be more than happy to pitch in what I can to help get it shipped a safer way or even toss in some gas money for Monsinour if he's really willing and able to make the drive.
This wouldnt be the first time I drove all day and night to get somewhere.
I drove from Tampa FL to Toledo OH in 20 hours 2x before. Once for work and once on a return pleasure trip. The trip down to Tampa on the vacation I stopped at my parents house in Knoxville TN for the night to break it up. I drove all the way back because I had to work the next day.
I drove from Atlanta GA to where I am now when my parents bought the car I have. I have paid them back since. I flew to Knoxville to get the car, drove to atlanta (well father south, Griffen GA) to visit my best friend. Stayed the night at his place and then drove the 17 hours back stopping for gas.
I have driven from St. Louis to Toledo in about 10 or 11 hours, too long ago to remember. It was for a purely guy reason and I dont need to elaborate, LOL!
When it comes to driving OTR, I have done more than my fair share. I have made the trip from Toledo to Knoxville more times than I care to count. The best I did it in was 6 hours and the average was 8 hours.
Going from here to harrisburg is a nothing drive of 5 hours. The "bear" will be the 10 hours from there to you flower. The 10 or 11 hours home wont be a bear as I am going home and will go slower, LOL. My car, when tuned up right, gets around 35 to 40 MPG. It probably would only take about 3 maybe 4 tanks of gas to do the entire trip. I would have a reason to change out the spark plugs on my car. I could easily do this over a weekend or whatnot. My only issue with doing this is my wife's work schedule. I would have to find a time where she doesnt work for 2 days. She takes every saturday off.
So, as far as "if I am willing to do so" I would not have volunteered to do it unless I was completely willing to go through with it. Heck, depending on where Meowzer is, I might be willing to drive there and back just for grins and giggles. I have never been to oklahoma and it would be a state I could cross off my list of "driven through or in this state." So far, the total of states I have driven in is 26 and at some point in my life it will be 48 if not 49, pending alaska.
