in that site the reason behind it there are to many things up for sale on it. where would you draw the line thus they have decided the entire site is not allowed to be linked to. just one of those things that if people are looking for something they can go and look for it. there are alot of buisness that are hosted on that site. most of them have visit my online store.

if my reef club wasn't on the biggest BB on swf, i would never visit it.
we have 2 here one is there and the other is independant
There is alot of cost associated with a site mainly bandwidth and server maintence I had my own site for awhile and the cost of general browsers was hitting me hard!!!

They do and are

As for why your post was deleted, I do not know...I didn't do it, so I can't explain it.
Another poster was displeased about the responses for a sick animal. e.g. As for why an _____________ isn't doing well and why...the first question had better be what environment you have it in (parameters, etc) as obviously that is a huge reason most animals die. If you don't want that question asked, then just provide the info to begin with
But no one worth their salt would ignore that question, IMO (before anyone goes off on "well my LFS guy is a marine biologist and...." just know that I am a marine invertebrate zoologist, and it is the first question to ask). I would say 99% of people on this board are trying to help, experienced or not. If you don't want that input, then buy a book (a good plan anyway of course
)

Folks, I understand some people just plain don't like it here and NOTHING will change it.
Great thing is it is a free country, and a market economy. Maybe in time some policies on SWF will change, but they are what they are...and frankly they frustrate even me sometimes. But overall the advantages outweigh the drawbacks, and I'm around to stay
I started on most of the big boards, left SWF for awhile, but always came back in the end.
I can't even say why, frankly, I am just comfortable here - that means the posters, the site and the exchange. So thanks for being around and participating :)

I can agree with you to some degree. You are absolutely correct about the competing companies that host there. But it's kind of a stretch to say that just because you provide a link to a particular item, you're violating policy because you MAY go to another link on that site that someone is selling yet another item that SWF does sell. Take for instance this TDS Meter someone found. All the guy did was post a part number to look for on Google, and the post got deleted. The site everyone is going to 'buy' it sells virtually everything in the world. They are not anywhere in the imaginable sense saltwater or aquarium resellers. Does SWF even sell TDS Meters?

I Pmed renogaw on why I took out his post. The reason was the the site also done has selected sponsors and when you search for that product number and went to the site the sposors also showed on the site that came up. so it was a judgment call on it.
many people still found the product without it being link to or a search for this post.

mike was the culprit, and he explained it well enough to me.
as for being a sponsor there, i had seen a "sponsor" forum for about 10 mins, even gave SWF a great review (was second post in the forum). i came here, posted that it was good to see them advertising there. within seconds, the forum on -- was gone, as was the post here. Since then, i've not seen a banner for swf.com. i take it they may sponsor it, but just not advertise?

what i also dont undesrstand is if you were to type a certain phrase to find the TDS meter itll bring you up to other forums that may or may not have sponsors that "compete" with swf.com
but its okay to type that in but not a part number that may or not may not bring up sites with sponsors who "compete" with swf.com

one of --'s sponsors is swf.com, but they dont have their own little forum for people to post when they need help from swf.com or a question most likely because swf.com just doesnt have the time to put someone a computer to help people out with their orders or questions. all the other sponsors do have their own forum and do have the time to take questions and answer them

thats a bit negative dont you think. here lately we have seen an increase in the admin of the site takeing care of issues and directly posted to this Board.

whats negative? telling you that they dont have a forum there to help out people who order from them or have questions? im telling you how it is..... thats all...when ive had questions about ordering from a few of those sponsors ive asked questions there and they respond back by sending me a PM or answering my question in the thread i post. i had a problem with one of the sponsors and immediately it was cleared up, and it turned out it was my mistake

but they do its the entire board here and as they see things come up admin has answered the questions posed and also through email.

I am looking in my magic crystal ball and can sense a thread "LOCK" in the very near future! Anybody else agree?

nah, they don't lock threads that are discussions. this has turned away from the original post, but it still is being helpful i'd think.

I dont see why they would lock it. People have concerns and questions and no one is pointing fingers. They just want things clarified. If it gets locked, it shows someone just doesnt want to deal with being the stand in customer relations girl/guy. All this thread is doing is giving people the place to ask WHY. Which is a good thing.

No, they advertise. I just went there, hit refresh twice on my browser, and their add came up.

ha look in your ball however long you want, i really dont care. i have no idea why you find locking a thread so funny if all were doing is discussing what's going on with online forums????
anyways, for many of the people that found the website and ordered their free tds meter then awesome. this thread was just started to help people get something useful thats free and didnt want people on this forum to get left out of it. i guess
